can really get you hyped, but it reminds you to have fun, that you love swimming and love competing. It really has nothing to do with getting ready to swim, but I just love the beat. It makes me ready to dance. This is a song I listen to over and over again.
gets you to go fast and lift hard. For me, a song like this reminds me of the good times I have had with teammates and coaches, and it gets me focused and ready to go. This sport is about the friendships you have made to this point, and all of those people helped get you to that moment at Trials, so this song works for me.

than gets me hyped up before I race. I listened to this song on the bus ride on the way to the final of the 200 IM at 2009 Worlds.

types of music before racing, but one of my favorite memories from Olympic Trials was in 2008 when Amanda Beard and I listened to Pump Up the Jam by Technotronic in our room before each final session pretty much every day. We would dance around the room getting ready to go to the pool while listening to this song on repeat. In such a high pressure meet, it put us in a light mood and let us laugh at our awesome 90s flashback dance moves. Definitely a go-to beat when tensions are high.
