TEN SONGS with Olympian
AlyssaUNIvERSITY Of ARIzONA
“we always do a pump up cD at arizona before our conference
meet and ncaa meet. the girls request songs, and we’ll put
together a whole thing on it. so when we are in a van, or on the
way to the competition, it’s a fun time for us, signing along.
that’s something i really liked.”
5 SOME NIgHTS, by Fun: This was a really big song for me
before Trials. This is just a feel-good song. This is a song I just
really enjoy listening to, to relax. It’s not a hard rock song or
anything, just a nice song.
6 FAITH AND SOUND, by Taylor swift: This is from The
wHATEVER IT TAkES, by leona lewis: it’s like a pop song,
but the title is something everyone on the team can relate to. it’s
not like a pump-up song, but we have that phrase at the gate to
our pool, a sign that says, “whatever it takes.”
CALL ME MAYBE, by Carly Rae Jepsen: That has to be on
every list. it’s a memory of the olympics, and it will always remind
everyone of the 2012 Olympic team, and take you back to what it
was like to be there.
Hunger Games. any of Taylor swift’s songs are good. all the girls
on the team always listen to her songs. she’s one of those artists
that you can just sing along to when you are traveling in the van.
DON’T wAkE ME UP, by Chris Brown: This was a song my
roommates and i would listen to all the time. i stayed with Lauren
Perdue and Lia neal. They were awesome roommates in the
olympic Village. it was a good beat for all of us to dance along to.
we had several dance parties in our suite with this song, and it
always takes me back to that time when i hear it.
BAREFOOT BLUE JEAN NIgHTS, by Jake owen: This
is another feel-good song! i have several country songs that i
love, and this is one of them.
8 DON’T STOP BELIEVINg, by Journey: That was one of
the songs from nCAAs in 2011. I am from the Bay Area (where
Journey is from). Obviously, I like the title of this song.
9 HAPPY, by Natasha Bedingfield: This is just one of those
go-to songs i have to relax and put a smile on my face when
everything around me seems a little too crazy.
10 ALL OF THE ABOVE, by Maino (featuring T-Pain): This
gIMME MORE, by Britney spears: most girls i know really like
Britney Spears and her music. It’s good to see her doing so well
again. it’s a nice comeback story. it’s another song that’s fun to
dance with when i’m hanging out with the girls on the team.
is the song that really reminds me of nCaas. we would blast
this song all the way until finals as a team. arizona is known
for walking in together, and i can remember having this on my
headphones all the time.
