Whether you are staying stateside or within the borders
of Colorado for time off, Aurora has curated four local
itineraries to get travel ideas flowing.

1 No Cost/Big Fun
PUBLIC ART & HONOR
Salute our nation's heroes at Colorado
Freedom Memorial. This admission-free
memorial is the first of its kind because
it honors every Colorado veteran killed or
lost in action, regardless of rank or war.
Search for names or take a walk around the
grounds; you might even see F-16 planes
from nearby Buckley Air Force Base pass by.
Also, look up the self-guided audio tour
of new murals and a walking tour map
of both new and existing murals (see page
39) that resulted from the first-ever Colfax
Canvas mural festival in 2020. Both can be
found at colfaxcanvas.com.

BROWSE AROUND
Southlands is an outdoor lifestyle
center filled with fun things to do
throughout the year. In the summer,
stop by for farmers' markets on
Saturdays. In the winter, Southlands

offers holiday-themed events and
an ice rink. You can purchase tickets
in advance and rentals are available
on-site. Between live music, popup events, and seasonal activities,
there's also always something going
on at Stanley Marketplace. This indoor
market is filled to the brim with shops,
restaurants, and cool art.

TOUR & TASTE
Free tours of Dry Dock Brewing Company's
North Dock production facility are offered
every Saturday at 2 p.m. All ages are
welcome, but guests trying free samples
must be 21 or over. See how this beloved
Colorado brewery crafts approximately
20,000 barrels of beer annually, along with
a new line of hard seltzers. Play bingo for
free and sip suds on Thursday nights in the
on-site taproom.

HISTORY
Live like the pioneers at Plains
Conservation Center. This realistic
homestead in Aurora encompasses
1,100 acres of open space complete
with mid-19th century sod homes, a
one-room schoolhouse, and more.
Discover some of the city's oldest
artifacts and pieces of history at Aurora
History Museum, and don't miss the fully
restored 1913 train trolley! Or visit the
historic Building 500 on the Anschutz
Medical Campus, once the temporary
home of President Dwight Eisenhower.

OUTDOORS
Jump on the Sand Creek Regional
Greenway, a 14-mile public trail that
spans across Aurora, Denver, and
Commerce City. Perfect for walking,
biking and running, the trail connects
with High Line Canal Trail. Plus, Fido
and Fluffy can join you as leashed
pets are allowed.
