What that looks like varies from person to person, of course. The sky is the
limit when sketching out your personal bucket list, but here are a few ideas
of how to accomplish a few travel fantasies in Aurora and nearby Colorado
destinations. Our hope is you keep coming back to check off more items!
HIKE A MOUNTAIN
If you have ...
AN HOUR Warm up on the Wetlands Loop,
Creekside Trail, or Sand Creek Regional
Greenway
A HALF-DAY Hike around Cherry Creek
State Park in Aurora
A DAY Get on some peaks west of Denver
A WEEKEND Test your hiking prowess in
Chaffee County
CLOSEST TO DENVER: Known by natives and
hiking enthusiasts as 14'ers, climbing mountains that soar upwards of 14,000+ feet is on
the bucket list of many adventure-seekers.
Start early and make your way up I-70 for
Grays Peak, which summits at 14,270 ft. If
you're feeling up for it, hike across the saddle
of the mountains to summit Torreys Peak as
well. Mt. Bierstadt is also a good option near
Aurora; the summit peaks at 14,060.
CHAFFEE COUNTY: Drive only a few hours
southwest to the Collegiate Peaks around

Buena Vista and Salida. Harvard, Yale, and
Princeton are among the mountains you will
encounter. Camp near trailheads to get an
early start, and don't miss soaking at Mount
Princeton Hot Springs Resort, Cottonwood
Hot Springs and Salida Hot Springs Pool and
strolling the charming downtowns.

NOTE!

Make sure you know the details
about a hike; watch the weather; don't start
out too late; have the proper gear; bring a
backpack with food, layers, and water; and
inform others about where you are going.

DRINK A COLOR ADO BEER
If you have ...
AN HOUR Stop by a brewery for happy hour
A HALF-DAY Check out some of Aurora's 14
breweries
A DAY Travel around Longmont on the
BrewHop Trolley
A WEEKEND Go on brewery tours in Golden
and Fort Collins

AURORA: With more than 14 breweries to
choose from, you'll be busy. Stop by Aurora's
newest brewery, Lady Justice Brewing
Company, for a flight of classic and unusual
beers. Or make your way to Southlands to
Bent Barley Brewing Company for lagers and
ales on the patio. For bold flavors, check out
Peak to Peak Tap & Brew and Ursula Brewery.
The list happily goes on!
FRONT RANGE BREW HOPPING: There is
a lot of tasting to do around the Denver
metro area, but day or weekend trips to Fort
Collins, Boulder, and Longmont will make
any beer-lover happy. With more than 20
craft breweries, Fort Collins brews 60 percent of Colorado's craft beers due to names
like New Belgium Brewing Company and
Odell Brewing Company. Don't miss bike
and beer tours, and in Longmont there is
a BrewHop Trolley so you can get on and
off at your leisure to check out the brewery,
cidery, and distillery scene. Don't miss brewery tours at Coors in Golden and Budweiser
