T HE PEOPLE' S B UI LDI NG

The People's Building: A Place Where

COMMUNITY ART THRIVES
The People's Building, operated by the City of
Aurora, is a performance and event space in
the heart of the Aurora Cultural Arts District
(ACAD). It's a place dedicated to presenting
high-quality music, dance, theatre, and events
that inspire and reflect the community.

THE HISTORY: The City of Aurora's Office

of Urban Renewal and Redevelopment acquired
the structure that was once a ski shop and then a
rent-to-own furniture store. More than $2 million was invested in the building's revitalization,
resulting in a dynamic place that serves as an art
gallery and a flexible space for cultural events,

workshops, meetings, independent artists, musicians, and dancers.

THE WHY: There is a direct link between

the arts and a thriving community. The People's
Building is a place where artists of all disciplines
can explore, educate, and perform while inspiring
metro-area residents and visitors.

THE VISION: The People's Building seeks to

become a part of the national arts conversation,
serve as a haven for artists in a growing
metropolis, and offer programming that is as
diverse as Aurora.
