Virginia is also home to many music festivals, including Bristol
Rhythm and Roots, the Richmond Folk Festival, FloydFest, Lockn'
and many others. Virginia's music scene boasts an array of genres
from orchestra and opera at some of the nation's grandest concert
halls, to rock, jazz and blues at city nightclubs. Virginia's music
venues provide music lovers hundreds of performances a year by
world-famous musicians on stages around the state.

MUSIC LOVERS
Music connects us all, and its melodies have been woven into
the story of Virginia since the beginning. The stories of America
have been passed on from generation to generation through a
rich tradition of musical storytelling. This legacy has culminated
in historic moments like the 1927 Bristol Sessions, known as the
"Big Bang of Country Music," and the cultivation of musicians
who have helped shape the story of American music. Hundreds of
musicians have made their mark on American music on the stage
at the Carter Family Fold, site of the famous musical family's home
and Johnny Cash's last live performance. The stories of many
generations have been told through song right here in Virginia.

So get your toes tapping and hands clapping at a Friday-night
bluegrass concert at the Floyd Country Store, or raise your hands
and roar along with the crowd at one of Virginia's truly worldclass music festivals. These musical moments are more than
