SIZE MATTERS
As part of Battlefield V's more granular approach to destruction,
the size of your weapon will now make a big difference in bullet
penetration. A shot from a puny little pistol will just get stuck in
the wall without doing any damage, but the rounds from a highcaliber mounted gun will punch right through cover and make
sure anyone on the other side has a really bad day. It sounds like a
significant change, one with the potential for serious implications
to the game's multiplayer balance.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

We weren't all that surprised to learn that War Stories, the novel singleplayer campaign introduced in Battlefield 1, is coming back. Using
standalone vignettes following different characters throughout the
major events and theaters of the war is a great way to tackle a sprawling conflict without reducing it to a shallow action-movie plot. But we
were a little surprised that the first War Story DICE announced follows a
young woman in the Norwegian resistance. It's definitely not a side of
WWII that games usually spotlight.

Battlefield V includes a co-op mode called Combined Arms, but don't
expect standard prefab missions. Instead, you and up to three other
players will be able to use soldiers from your Companies to take on
dynamically generated missions against AI enemies. The game will
be able to mix and match different narrative beats and objective
types to keep things fresh playthrough after playthrough. DICE is
selling it as something for people who need a break from the stress
of multiplayer but still want to play with friends.
