need certain types of habitat, they need to
sleep, they have social needs, they need space
to move and some of them even need to hunt,"
Brookes said. In an exciting twist, you'll even
be able to take direct control of units within
the park to tackle problems that crop up in a
more involved and engaging way. You can fly
a chopper, for example, to chase down a loose
dino, and even manually aim a tranquilizer gun
to sedate your escapee.
Adding some structure to the experience
are objectives. Contracts and missions are
categorized into three pathways, each with
a different focus. The first, Entertainment,
is about making sure your park becomes
a thriving tourist attraction. Second, the
Science path places emphasis on discovering
and sequencing new dinosaur genomes, as
well as doing a bit of genetic engineering.
Finally, Security is about learning to actively
manage any dino-related crisis. To truly put
your containment measures to the test, you'll
need to breed the most dangerous dinosaurs
possible.

One of the most
obvious ways
Evolution adds
depth to the
franchise is by
taking players to
new locales.

Spare no Expense
The most famous setting in the series,
Isla Nublar, isn't actually one of Las Cinco
Muertes. This island, where the events of
Jurassic Park and World unfolded, plays
a special role in Jurassic World Evolution.
Isla Nublar, you see, is home to the game's
unlockable sandbox mode. Once you've
managed to earn a five-star rating on the
game's first island, Isla Mantaceros, you can
head to Nublar to build the park of your
dreams.
There, you'll have unlimited money at
your disposal, as well as control over the
time of day, weather, and the frequency
of crises. If you want to build a sprawling
park where nothing goes wrong, go for
it. If you want frequent power outages to
let raptors loose on hapless tourists, you
can make that nightmare a reality, too.
Everything you unlock in the main game
then becomes available on Nublar as well,
so you'll no doubt keep coming back as you
progress through the campaign.
