The charger charges battery in three phases: conditioning, constant current and constant voltage. Charge is terminated based on minimum current level and a programmable charge timer provides a safety backup for charge termination. The design also incorporates an MCU for battery identification, charge status display and battery temperature monitoring using HDQ communication protocol from BQ27000 battery fuel gauge IC embedded inside the battery pack. Each bay can provide bulk charge current up to 750 mA at 4.2 V maximum voltage for off-the-shelf GlobTek 2GL523450-G or customer designed battery packs. Modified, custom and higher wattage designs adaptable to customer battery packs or alternate specifications are also available.
