New Products • Power Supplies HP UPS R5000 and R7000 Uninterruptible Power Systems with Transformer-Less, Hybrid Design Absopulse Electronics’ PFL 1K-XXF44T series of rugged industrial grade AC/DC switching power supplies with PFC input deliver up to 1,000 W continuous output power. They employ field-proven design topology to convert a universal AC-input voltage to a 24 VDC/40 A, 48 VDC/20 A or 125 VDC/8 A output. The series is built with two PFC 319 internal modules, which have a well-established track record in numerous heavy-duty applications. This modular construction provides inherent redundancy; in the event of the failure of one internal module, the unit would remain functional at half power. Several PFL 1,000 units can be paralleled for higher output power. This design can also be used as a 500 W redundant power supply. Indicators include a green “Output On” LED that is visible on each internal module through the cooling slots. An output fail alarm is available as an option. The PFL 1K-XXF44T series are housed in a rugged lowprofile convection cooled chassis with a total footprint of 267 mm by 64 mm by 353 mm and are suitable for 1 kW industrial applications where available height is restricted and where fans are not permissible. 1 KW Convection Cooled AC/DC Power Supply Designed for Rugged Industrial Applications HP added two new slim-lined uninterruptible power systems (UPS) to its power family. The HP UPS R5000 is 3U and delivers 4,500 W, and the HP UPS R7000 is 4U and delivers a full 7, 200 W. Combining unity rating with more true wattage in smaller form factors, the HP rack-mountable UPSs are highly dense. The unique HP on-line, on-demand hybrid technology optimizes efficiency and heat output during general operation and provides a transformer-less design for an optimum size/functionality ratio. A distinctive processing system on these rack-mount UPS models incorporates a three stage power filter with a doubleconversion, line-interactive system to provide all of the benefits of an on-line UPS without the side effects of low efficiency, extra heat and short battery life. All HP rack-mountable UPSs ship with HP’s Network Module and HP’s Power Protector Software that incorporates Enhanced Battery Management, an exclusive patented technology that doubles battery service life to lower investment costs. Hot-swappable batteries and an intelligent automatic bypass (for continuous power) improve overall serviceability. New Level V Compliant 220 Watt Desktop Power Supply The new PUP220 series’ of AC/DC switching power supplies from Protek Power offer 220 watts of continuous output power. They are enclosed in a compact case with an IEC320/C14 inlet for world-wide use. All models meet CISPR 22 and FCC Class B emission limits and comply with UL, TUV and CE requirements. Efficiency Level V compliance ensures OEMs that the PUP220 series meets worldwide energy efficiency standards. The PUP220 series accepts a 90 to 264 VAC universal input. Single output models have voltages ranging from 12 VDC to 48 VDC. This high power, yet compact, desktop adapter has a 3.46 inch by 7.76 inch by 1.73 inch footprint. The series boasts high efficiencies equal to or greater than 87 percent and 1,500 VAC input-output isolation voltage from input to output and ground. Comprehensive protection circuitry, including overvoltage and short circuit protection, is inherent in the design. Units have an MTBF of 100,000 hours at full load. Falcon Electric Adds Lightweight 10-Year Rated Lithium-Ion Batteries to SSG Series Uninterruptible Power Supplies Falcon Electric, Inc. has added lithium-ion batteries as an option to its 1,500 VA model of its SSG series Industrial Grade UPS Plus. Lithium-ion chemistry offers several advantages over valve regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries including less weight, longer runtimes and higher energy density. The SSG series is a true double-conversion on-line sinewave regenerative UPS that is an advanced, robust and rugged solution that provides military, aerospace and industrial applications with a high level of power protection that tolerates many of the elements found in these harsh environments. Due to its rugged design, the UL listed SSG series is capable of withstanding elevated temperatures of up to 131ºF (55ºC). The SSG series, which is available in 1,500 VA, 2,200 VA and 3,000 VA configurations, can be placed in an equipment rack or installed as a stand-alone tower in close proximity to the critical load. This eliminates the need to shield the UPS from the environment. The SSG series also provides users with an improved level of battery monitoring and replacement notification, as well as userfriendly, hot-swappable battery packs. Slide-out battery packs are replaced through the UPS front panel, without having to remove the UPS from the equipment rack, eliminating the handling of individual batteries and the associated wiring hassles. 24 Battery Power • November/December www.BatteryPowerOnline.com http://www.BatteryPowerOnline.com
