Testing & Monitoring * New Products Emerson Network Power Expands Its Battery Testing, Maintenance and Replacement Services for Utility and Industrial Customers Emerson Network Power has expanded battery services delivered by its Electrical Reliability Services business, an independent electrical testing, maintenance and engineering service company. Emerson has long provided battery services to customers, but has now expanded its capabilities to offer a more comprehensive battery management solution designed to protect utility and industrial customers' emergency power systems. These expanded services include capacity and load testing, battery charger maintenance, battery replacement and regular preventive maintenance programs. To deliver these expanded services to customers locally, Emerson Network Power has invested in new Mobile DC Power Services units located strategically across the US. These custom-engineered units enable DC system maintenance to be performed on site with all the necessary power and safety equipment conveniently located in a mobile unit, ensuring a reliable temporary power source when conducting required DC system maintenance. Victron Energy Launches Battery Balancer Victron Energy has launched its new battery balancer. Not all batteries are created equal, and when multiple batteries are combined to create one large battery bank, the small differences between the batteries can cause problems that substantially shorten the life time. The battery balancer prevents this by actively correcting the imbalance. Besides correcting, it is also equipped with an alarm function to give a warning in case of a large deviation. When using a series string or series/parallel bank to create differing voltages and Ah ratings from individual 12 volt batteries, you can end up with a variance in terminal voltages on each battery. This will cause the batteries to become unbalanced. This situation is often made even worse by the increasing demands on batteries. Correcting and preventing battery imbalance with a Victron battery balancer extends the lifetime of batteries. Join us!!
