Enclosures Elma Shipping Conduction-Cooled 1/2 ATR Box With 6-Slot 3U VPX Backplane Elma Electronic Systems division has released a new ½ ATR conduction-convection cooled enclosure with a unique, advanced airflow design that distributes air across external fins in sidewalls. This configuration helps to ensure fast removal of dissipated heat, yet still maintain a low profile design. It ships with a 6-slot 3U OpenVPX (VITA 65) backplane on 1 inch pitch; it is also available with either a 3U cPCI backplane or a single-width MicroTCA backplane. The all-aluminum ATR is made from milled plates as well as punched and formed sheet metal. The main body is dip-brazed for optimum heat conductivity. The conduction-cooled card cage is completely sealed off to keep the electronic components in a clean environment. Elma’s ½ ATR box is designed for projects with weight restrictions as the unit weighs 12.5 pounds prior to power supply or payload. A removable front panel allows I/O customization to exact application requirements. Narrow screw spacing ensures high EMC shielding compliant to MIL-STD 461E, and the enclosure meets ARINC 404A and ANSI/VITA 48.2 standards. The unit offers the choice of a fixed-mount or plug-in 28 VDC power supply. tric air conditioners feature solid state construction and a maintenance free design. They use no compressors, refrigerants or filters, and have no moving parts other than fans. Models are appropriate for use in environments to 170°F, are available in 120 VAC or 220 VAC (or DC power), and are certified to UL standards. EIC’s Protector series features enclosures suitable for wallmounting, pole-mounting or floor-mounting, and are available with a variety of options. Units are shipped as a complete package with no assembly required. Altech Introduces TG Series Industrial Enclosures EIC Solutions’ Enclosure Air Conditioner Provides Vital, Secure Housing for Fire Panels EIC Solutions, Inc. is offering a full line of wall-mount electrical enclosures designed to house delicate equipment. An integral part of the Protector series, this line of enclosures provides a secure environment for sensitive fire panels commonly used by contractors and builders in apartment complexes and industrial parks. Many municipalities domestically and internationally request, and in some cases mandate, that all fire panels be housed in air conditioned boxes to control humidity, heat and moisture. EIC’s Protector series of enclosures feature a built-in thermoelectric air conditioner, which aims at keeping equipment such as fire panels cool, dry and functioning. With the development of the Protector series, fire panels can now be protected, yet remain accessible to contractors and fire service personnel. The wall-mount electrical equipment enclosures can also provide housing for telecommunications equipment, surveillance devices, laser and optical equipment, and other electronics in a variety of environments, including wet locations. The Protector series enclosures options include NEMA 4/12 steel or 4X stainless steel, aluminum or fiberglass construction, locking latches, view windows, optional surge protectors and insulation. Enclosures are available in standard and custom sizes. Additionally, 200, 400, 800 or 1,500 BTU thermoelectric air conditioners can be added to all enclosure models. EIC’s thermoelec14 New Altech TG series enclosure products for industrial applications provide protection in extremely harsh industrial environments. These small to medium enclosures, offered in 16 sizes, offer reliable solutions to protect installed electrical or electronic control and measuring equipment. TG enclosures range in size from 84 by 82 by 55 mm to 302 by 232 by 110 mm and are rated to class IP67 (NEMA 4X) for protection against dust and ingress of water during short-term submersion. They can be supplied either in ABS or polycarbonate for unsurpassed industrial quality and are flame resistant and halogen free. Among standard features, TG enclosures are available with gray or tinted recessed transparent covers and are designed with smooth sidewalls. They come with cover retainers and mounting studs in the base. Users can choose from either standard stainless steel cover screws or a new quick-turn release version that releases in a ¼ turn. As an option, users can customize TG enclosures by installing label inlays or membrane keypads in the standard recessed cover. Available accessory options for the enclosures include liquid tight strain relief connectors and connector assemblies, steel or plastic mounting plates, DIN rails, and mounting tab and hinge kits. Custom products can be developed to satisfy particular application requirements. Integra Enclosures Releases New Product to Genesis Line of Enclosures Integra Enclosures has introduced a 24 by 24 by 10 inch enclosure product, a part of the Genesis line, to meet customer needs for larger-scaled application protection solutions. Integra’s new products are the first of their kind and specifications to hit the US market. The Genesis line of non-metallic Nema 4X UL rated enclosures is the next expansion of Integra’s Premium and Impact lines comprising 16 standard configurations, including hinged or non-hinged lids. Made of high-impact, UV-resistant polycarbonate materials, the Genesis line enclosures boast flexible interior mounting using Integra’s patented adjustable swing panel mounting system. And multiple bosses on the product allow for easy installation of devices and DIN rails. June/July 2011 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
