Power Eaton Corp. has released its new uninterruptible power system, the Eaton 5PX UPS, an integrated power management solution for information technology and small-to-medium-business data centers. The 5PX supports virtualization strategies through integration with Eaton’s Intelligent Power software suite, an software solution that combines power monitoring with graceful shutdown of devices or live migration of virtual machines. The 5PX meters energy consumption of individual devices down to the outlet segment level. This enables IT managers to control individual power outlets or groups of outlets across the network, and also track and reduce the power consumption of the protected servers and other IT equipment. With a graphical LCD display built into the front of the UPS, IT and data center managers have direct access to customize all UPS settings. Through this display and the power management software, users also have a full view of the power draw of individual devices connected to the UPS, enabling better management of electrical loads, consumption and energy footprint. As part of the Intelligent Power Software Suite, Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager software and shutdown modules are compatible with VMware’s vCenter Server, Microsoft’s SCVMM, Red Hat’s KVM (Kernel Virtual Machine) and Xen Servers (both Citrix Xen and OpenSource Xen) virtualization platforms. As a result, IT man- Eaton’s 5PX UPS Protects Virtual Servers with Integrated Power Management Capabilities agers can configure the software suite to trigger the automatic relocation of virtual machines whenever the 5PX indicates that the connected servers are reaching their maximum capacity, or gracefully shutdown servers that are connected to the 5PX. Each 5PX UPS, including the batteries, is backed by a three-year warranty. Additionally, the unit features Eaton’s advanced battery management (ABM) technology that increases battery service life by 50 percent. ASI New Line of 13 mm MCB’s Offer UL 1077 Supplemental Protection Automation Systems Interconnect, Inc. has released a new line of DIN rail mounted miniature circuit breakers that are 13 mm wide and UL1077 recognized for use as supplemental protectors. The NDB5 circuit breaker product line includes AC and DC supplemental protectors with ratings ranging from 1 amp to 63 amps. The new unit is available in one, two or three pole with a 10 kA interrupt capacity standard on all DC circuit breakers. In addition to being 300 percent factory tested the NDB5 UL 1077-miniature circuit breakers feature shockproof screw clamp connections and are all RoHs compliant. The 13 mm footprint also makes them an well suited for saving DIN rail space. Falcon Electric Introduces Wide Temperature AC Line Regulator Falcon Electric, Inc. has released its new line of SVR-PL series ultra-wide temperature AC power line regulators. The SVR-PL series, available in five power models, has been designed to operate in extreme temperature environments. Designed to operate from −22°F to 149°F, the SVR-PL rackmount and tower configured AC line regulators are designed for use in vapplications where maintaining a constant temperature is required. To achieve this temperature resistance the SVR-PL was designed with an optimized cooling and a high-temperature LED display that is tolerant of lower and higher temperatures. Internal components have aslo been enhanced to handle extreme temperatures. The solid-state SVR-PL 1 kVA, 1.5 kVA, 2 kVA, 2.5 kVA and 3 kVA models provide clean, regulated, sinewave output power even when operating from an unregulated incoming AC power source, such as from an on-site generator. This gives users a high level of protection against a spectrum of power problems. Accepting a 50/60 Hz input and providing a fixed 60 Hz or 50 Hz output, the SVR-PL supplies a regulated output of ±2 percent and extended brownout protection. Optional batteries may be installed inside the SVR-PL that were selected due to their operational temperature range of -40ºF to 176ºF. The batteries have a 10-year service life rating when operated in a normal ambient temperature environment of 72ºF. The SVR-PL is equipped with an NFPA-70, NEC 645-11 compliant Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) interface assuring easy integration. Remote output receptacle control is an option to REPO, allowing the load segment outlets to be remotely controlled using a wire connected, remote switch. 22 June/July 2011 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.eponlinebuyersguide.com http://www.eponlinebuyersguide.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
