Hardware PennEngineering Introduces microPEM Fasteners For Compact Electronics PennEngineering has introduced a new and growing family of microPEM fasteners designed for applications in compact electronic assemblies. These small fasteners can serve as a practical way to permanently secure solutions enabling quicker assembly of devices ranging from hand-held consumer electronics to certain medical equipment. Standard types of microPEM fasteners include PEM Type MSO4 self-clinching standoffs and PEM Type MPP self-clinching locating pins. Additional microPEM fastener types from tack pins to screws can be supplied. Type MSO4 standoffs for spacing applications are manufactured from 400 series stainless steel with threads as small as M1.0 / #00 and available in lengths as short as 2 mm /0.080 inches. The standard product can be installed into sheet metal (including 300 series stainless steel) as thin as 0.4 mm/0.016 inches with maximum hardness up to HRB 88 on the Rockwell “B” scale. Applications requiring installation in sheets as thin as 0.2 mm have also been satisfied with specially engineered microPEM standoffs. Type MPP micro pins for locating/positioning applications are manufactured from age-hardened A286 stainless steel and designed with diameters as small as 1 mm/ 0.040 inches and in lengths as short as 2 mm / 0.080 inches. They can be installed permanently into stainless steel or other sheet materials as thin as 0.5 mm/0.020 inches with hardness up to HRB 92 on the Rockwell “B” scale. added return loss performance at high frequencies. The PHY-side return loss up to 400 MHz meets or exceeds return loss requirements. A low insertion loss over the 1 MHz to 400 MHz band allows for longer cable reach. This new platform is designed to help meet tough EMC system requirements such as FCC Part 15 class B. In addition to the new 1 by 1 platform, Pulse currently has a wide selection of 10GBASE-T discrete magnetic products in production. Pulse is currently working to release a 2xN (2 to 16 port) ICM targeted to the high-end switch market. Pulse Electronics continues to be proactive in developing products that are safe for the environment and reduce potential health risks. Crenlo Introduces IBC Kit to its Lineup of Emcor Accessories New SATA, eSATA and Micro USB Covers Protect Sensitive Ports and Cables L-com, Inc. has unveiled six new items in its wwseries of protective covers. The products include male and female covers for SATA, eSATA and USB Micro connectors. While L-com has produced several popular protective covers before. These new covers are designed to fit more difficult-to-find connector types. “Connection points between cables and ports are very sensitive to dust and abrasion,” said Steve Smith, product manager. “Protective covers can prevent wear on expensive connectors, especially in high particulate environments.” Crenlo has added the Emcor 10-series IBC Tie-Down Kit to its lineup of accessories for Emcor enclosures. Built to secure the Emcor 10-series cabinet to the floor, the IBC Kit meets life safety requirements for protecting building occupants from falling objects in the event of an earthquake as outlined in the International Building Code. The kit contains four frame spacers and four seismic brackets that require the appropriate concrete anchoring hardware to meet local codes as determined by a building engineer. Crenlo’s engineers can work directly with customers and/or their engineers to provide site-specific installation recommendations. “One of our major focuses at Crenlo is to help our customers comply with an array of industry regulations, and with the addition of the Emcor 10-series IBC Tie-Down Kit, we have further strengthened our ability to do so,” said Steven Leidig, manager of enclosure engineering at Crenlo. “Seismic requirements vary by building, geographic region and industry, but our team of in-house experts is dedicated to consulting with our customers on a caseby-case basis to ensure compliance with either of the two major seismic standards.” New Composite Shell Circular Connectors for Low Weight Applications Pulse Electronics Launches 10GBASE-T Integrated Connector Module Pulse Electronics Corp. has introduced its new 10GBASE-T (10 Gigabit over twisted-pair) integrated connector module (ICM) for servers, LAN on motherboard (LOM), adapter cards and storage devices. This 1 by 1 RJ4510GBASE-T platform is halogen free and RoHS compliant and offers customers a choice of multiple LED configurations and EMI tab options. It meets PCIe mechanical requirements and supports the latest 10GBASE-T physical layer device (PHY) technology and applications. Pulse-designed 10GBASE-T products meet or exceed IEEE 803.an requirements and are tuned to have flat insertion loss curves and 18 API Technologies’ Spectrum Control product line released its new composite connector series. These connectors feature shells fabricated from high grade thermoplastic. Designed to displace traditional metal connector shells for weight reduction, this addition to the Spectrum Control product line offers composite shell versions of its circular connectors in MIL38999 series III and IV, available EMI filtered or unfiltered. The new composite shell maintains the form, fit and function of the original connector shell, making it well suited for applications where weight is a critical factor, such as in the military and aerospace industries. Given the company’s unique vertical integration capabilities, custom mechanical variations may be provided without traditional tooling charges. The company offers a premium line of compact and extended shell EMI filtered connectors that can be designed to meet the November/December 2011 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
