Enclosures Hoffman Expands Line of Protek Series WallMount Cabinets Pentair Technical Products has expanded its Hoffman brand line of Protek Wall-Mount enclosures. Protek series enclosures are designed to provide protection, support, thermal management and easy access to rack-mounted, 19-inch panel and other sensitive electronics. Available in a wide selection of sizes, materials and configurations, these enclosures provide solutions for the emerging trend toward intermediate distribution frame (IDF) networks and point-of-operation industrial component applications. Standard models include a variety of sizes as well as single and double-hinged door configurations. Single-door cabinets offer a cost-effective solution for protecting, securing and cooling a host of equipment, while double-hinged door cabinets facilitate front and rear access, reducing time to install and connect system components. Additionally, these models allow simple access for maintenance and upgrades. Models are UL and CSA Listed and available with solid or window doors, providing protection and a visual monitoring option. A choice of material options and ratings, now including stainless steel and NEMA Type 3R, are available to suit specific application requirements. Additionally, pre-packaged cooling solutions, including Type 3R fan and air-conditioned models, help protect components by maintaining the desired temperature in both indoor and outdoor environments. allow for easy movement. An automatic pressure relief valve is another standard feature along with gasket sealed lids that include convenient lid hangers to store lids when equipment is in operation. Coupling straps are included for securing the racks together when stacked. The interior of the case features a removable rack with a patent pending positive lock latching system that slides open like a file drawer, allowing full access to racked equipment. The interior rack is also completely removable allowing complete frame access for bench integration. Polycase Offers New Options for NEMA 4X Plastic Enclosures New Removable Shock Rack System from SKB SKB Corp. has introduced the 3RR series removable shock rack transport cases that are available in seven sizes, 3U,4U, 5U, 7U, 9U, 11U and 14U. These Shock Racks are lightweight, shockproof, watertight, dustproof, heat and chemical resistant and designed for protecting and transporting sensitive electronic equipment. These rack cases are molded of linear medium density polyethylene (LMDP) plastic that meets or exceed MIL-STD 810G standards and includes eight elastomeric shock absorbers, which allows a standard payload range of 40 to 150 lbs. Optional extended payload range of 160 to 300 lbs. can be accommodated as a special order option, or field installed to a standard case by the customer. The 3RR series removable racks are 24 inch deep from rail to rail with a standard 19 inch rack width per ANSI/EIA-310-C specification. The rack features square-hole rack rails to accommodate either #10-32 US standard, or 6 mm International standard cage nuts, which are supplied with the cases. The rugged roto-molded shell ensures strength and impact resistance. The standard COTS case comes with a 2” deep front lid and a 5 inch deep rear lid to accommodate rack gear that is longer than 24 inches, and edge casters to allow convenient case transport. Molded-in stacking ribs and lugs are designed to stack with competitive manufacturers cases. Black powder coated stainless steel hardware, which are recessed for protection, is standard as well as eight comfort grip spring loaded lift handles, which 14 Offering choices for both indoor and outdoor applications, the Polycase NEMA 4X rated WA, WC and WP series of waterproof electronic enclosures are now available in 13 sizes. Ranging from 2.2 by 2.5 inches to 14.1 by 7.8 inches, the NEMA-rated enclosures include seven sizes with optional molded on-mounting flanges. The WA, WC and WP series are UL listed to UL-508-4x specifications and UL-94HB flame rated. The NEMA 4X enclosures feature a silicone rubber gasket and stainless steel screws that provide electronics with protection from harsh environmental factors such as dust, heat, dirt and moisture. The WC and WP series are molded in flame-retardant, UV-stabilized Polycarbonate material. Designed for outdoor use, these enclosures are conducive to temperature ranges of -40°C to 120°C. The WC Series enclosure consists of a light gray base with a clear cover. The WP is a solid light gray enclosure. The WA series is molded in flame-retardant dark gray ABS plastic and is well suited for indoor use. Temperature range for the WA series is 0°C to 80°C. Optional NEMA 4X rated cable glands are available in seven sizes and are required to maintain the NEMA 4X rating where cables enter or exit the enclosure. Miniature WiTek Enclosures Now Feature ColorCoding Rings The WiTek enclosures range from Teko is now available with color-coding rings in seven different colors. As a result, different versions of the electronics can be color-coded for easy identification, or the colored rings can be used to match existing brand colors. The colored rings are captured on the recessed sides of the WiTek enclosures and are molded in soft-touch TPU plastic in blue, yellow, green, red, dark grey, light grey and black. The WiTek enclosures have been designed for small portable electronic devices, especially those with cable connections. Typical applications will include cable nodes, testing devices, USB interfaces and peripherals, medical equipment and handheld instrument and RF remote control equipment. WiTek enclosures are manufactured using the latest dual shot molding technique combining ABS (UL94 HB) with soft-touch TPU in two color combinations of white/light grey and black/dark gray. The design features a deep base section and shallow snap- March/April 2012 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
