Networking - Products & Services A new four channel modem-over-IP (MoIP) Gateway that connects dial-up devices over Ethernet/IP or MPLS is the latest addition to the 12 existing Ethernet, voice and data interface cards that make up TC Communication’s JumboSwitch product family. Designed for utility and SCADA networks, the TC3848-3/4 MoIP Gateway links or extends a wide variety of legacy dial-up devices including data modems, fax machines and meters, over IP/Ethernet or MPLS. Available as a standalone product or JumboSwitch interface card, the TC3848-3/4 is specifically designed to extend modem over IP connections because VoIP is designed for voice and usually doesn’t support data modems and dial-up devices. Typical applications include connecting dial-up meters or data modems in utility or SCADA networks, connecting older two-wire analog phone stations to PSTN for outside telephone service, or connecting ATM or credit card machines to a processing center. It can also be a critical connectivity product for completing migration from a legacy network to a fully integrated voice and data over Ethernet/IP network. The TC3848-3/4 is available in industrial hardened versions (-40°C to 80°C) and exceeds all pertinent industry and environmental standards including IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613 & NEMA TS-2. The JumboSwitch industrial Gigabit Ethernet modular switch integrates Ethernet, TDM, data, telephone, analog, T1/E1, T3/E3, dry contact and PDH-over-Ethernet interfaces on one redundant platform. Telit Wireless Solutions, Inc. has debuted the DE910-DUAL module, allowing M2M developers to leverage the strength of 3G CDMA networks for applications such as telematics and mobile computing. Featuring the same Land Grid Array (LGA) form factor as its globally compatible UMTS/ HSPA counterpart, the HE910, the DE910-DUAL module will offer the flexibility to connect to two of the most prevalent networks worldwide and experience global coverage with one core application design. Telit will support this LGA form factor by further introducing modules into the family format, providing the same logical interfacing and full hardware compatibility among all existing and future members of the family. Along with built-in gpsOne assisted GPS and autonomous GPS, the DE910-DUAL features a compact LGA package measuring 28.2 by 28.2 by 2.6 mm and an extended operating temperature range of -30°C to 85°C. A dual-band CDMA 1x EV-DO Rev. A module, the DE910-DUAL protects offers backward compatibility to 1xRTT and EV-DO Rev. 0, effectively extending the life of an application. The DE910-DUAL is also equipped with Over-the-Air firmware updates by means of Premium FOTA Management, enabling remote upgrades of the module software. Wago Corp.’s new 758-915 Bluetooth Ethernet gateway wirelessly transfers Ethernet protocols, such as PROFINET, MODBUS/TCP or EtherNet/IP via Bluetooth 2.0. Replacing communication lines between two automation systems, 758-915 features a 400 meter range courtesy of an international, license-free 2.4 to2.480 GHz ISM band. 758-915 employs Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology and low emission mode for coexistence with other 20 www.RemoteMagazine.com New Modem-Over-IP Gateway Links Dial-Up Devices Over IP/MPLS In Utility & SCADA Networks technologies such as WLAN. The 758-915’s on-board mode-button simplifies connections and automation system configuration. Web-based management provides additional configuration options including password or IP address; on-unit LEDs provide configuration and diagnostic status. Engineered for harsh applications, the IP65-rated 758-915 employs rugged M12 cables for automation connections and carries a temperature rating of -30° to 65°C. 758-915 features an internal, circularly polarized antenna for reliable radio connections in metal-intensive environments. Telit Wireless Releases EV-DO M2M Module B&B Electronics Manufacturing Co., Inc. has released its indoor/outdoor GhostBridge wireless Ethernet bridge. With a line-of-sight range of up to 15 km, the 5 GHz GhostBridge creates a transparent, secure, high-speed (up to 150 Mbps), point-to-point link between two remote devices or networks. The GhostBridge requires no further configuration or software setup; simply mount them, plug them into the network using the included PoE adapters, and then use the LED indicators to align them. A PoE pass-through Ethernet port also allows users to connect remote devices (IP camera, or other) to a LAN. GhostBridge features an 80°, 15 dBi sector antenna that’s integrated into the housing, and a 5 GHz radio built from 802.11n 2x2 MIMO technology, for longrange (up to 15 km) connectivity between remote stations and a central office. Or, users can bridge two networks or hard-to-reach nodes together. The operating frequency is 5,470 to 5,825 GHz and the unit consumes 8 watts maximum power. Pre-configured with WPA2, 128-bit security, the GhostBridge provides secure, point-to-point data transmission. Users can also configure it to other standards if desired. The two-unit bridge operates over a wide temperature range (-30°C to 80°C) and outdoor-rated, UV-stabilized enclosures protect the hardware. B&B Electronics Launches GhostBridge High-Speed Wireless Ethernet Bridge Wago Releases New Bluetooth Ethernet Gateway Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced its Ethernet Remote I/O - a new Ethernet communication gateway and backplane for the company’s LB/FB remote I/O system. The gateway and backplane enable the remote I/O system to speak a new communication protocol, building a virtual bridge between traditional field instruments and Modbus TCP-based Ethernet with data transfer rates up to 100 Mb/s. “Industrial Ethernet is a hot topic, and for good reason, as users can meet Division 2/Zone 2 or Zone 1 requirements with it. And integration into existing systems is easy because the Ethernet Remote I/O is based on the standard Modbus TCP protocol,” said Brian Traczyk, product manager, Phoenix Contact. Structures and plants in hazardous areas can be operated locally or from a central control point. The field signals can have an intrinsically safe connection for Div 1/Zone 0 applications. Up to 80 analog or 184 discrete signals can be controlled through a single gateway. The high transfer frequencies require LWL connections for long distances, while the copper lines are suitable for shorter distances up to 100 m.
