Onsite Power - Products & Services Alpha Technologies has expanded its AlphaCell battery offering to include the new RE series valve regulated lead acid batteries designed specifically for renewable energy cycling applications. The AlphaCell RE Front Terminal battery is intended for renewable energy storage in either grid-tied battery backup or off-grid power system applications. The front terminal access was designed for ease of maintenance and installation and offers reduced profile for higher energy density in cabinet or rack applications. The low calcium Lead/Tin alloy plates allow for long life in both cycling and float applications. Both models are UL-recognized components that feature Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) technology for efficient gas recombination of up to 99 percent and freedom from electrolyte maintenance. The AlphaCell RE line also features a multicell design for economy of installation and maintenance, and the low profile terminals with threaded copper alloy inserts reduce maintenance and increase safety. Alpha Expands AlphaCell Battery Offering to Meet Renewable Energy Needs Vycon has introduced its new Hybrid VDC XEB flywheel system. The VDC XEB is an environmentally friendly energy storage system that combines flywheel technology with batteries in one integrated system. Now with the combination of batteries, users who need more backup time can utilize the reliability and green aspects of the flywheel system with minutes of extra runtime from the batteries. Providing up to 300 kilowatts (kW) of power, Vycon’s Hybrid VDC VYCON Introduces New Hybrid VDC XEB Energy Storage System XEB is designed to protect power dependent applications and other mission-critical operations that may require several minutes of backup power. Upon a prolonged power outage, the VDC XEB will transfer to onsite generators. The VDC XEB’s ability to offer extended runtime gives users further peace of mind for applications including those with automatic transfer switch (ATS) time delays and/or synchronization time requirements for multiple generators. Compatible with all major brands of threephase UPSs, the Hybrid VDC XEB connects to the DC bus of a UPS. Receiving charging current from the UPS, the VDC XEB provides clean DC power to the UPS during discharge. Vycon’s 99.4 percent efficient system includes patented technology consisting of a flywheel hub formed from aerospace-grade steel, a high-speed permanent magnet motor generator, a contact-free magnetic levitation system and a touch-screen display that provides vital information on system performance. VYCON’s flywheel systems incorporate a host of features that make the systems easy to use, maintain and monitor such as self-diagnostics (including the batteries), log files, adjustable voltage settings, RS-232/485 interface, alarm status contacts, soft-start pre-charge from the DC bus and push-button shutdown. Available options include DC disconnect, remote monitoring, Modbus and SNMP communications and real-time monitoring software. HP has added two new slim-lined uninterruptible power systems to its power family. The HP UPS R5000 is 3U and delivers 4,500 W, and the HP UPS R7000 is a 4U unit that delivers a full 7,200 W. Combining unity rating with more true wattage in smaller form factors, the HP rack-mountable UPSs are highly dense. The HP on-line, on-demand hybrid technology optimizes efficiency and heat output during general operation and provides a transformer-less design for an optimum size/functionality ratio. A processing system on these rack-mount UPS models incorporates a three stage power filter with a double-conversion, line-interactive system to provide all of the benefits of an on-line UPS without the side effects of low efficiency, extra heat and short battery life. HP UPS R5000 and R7000 UPSs Feature Transformer-Less, Hybrid Design HP rack-mountable UPSs ship with HP’s Network Module and Power Protector software that incorporates enhanced battery management, a technology that doubles battery service life to lower investment costs. Hot-swappable batteries and an intelligent automatic bypass (for continuous power) improve overall serviceability. The included HP UPS Network Module provides enterprise-wide intelligent manageability functionality, such as scheduled shutdowns, additional operating systems support including VMware and Hyper-V and redundant UPS support for no single point of failure. Greater system uptime is supported via optional extended runtime modules. 24 www.RemoteMagazine.com http://www.infowebcom.com/conferences_binders.htm http://www.RemoteMagazine.com
