Onsite Power - Products & Services
Alpha Technologies Launches HetNet Power Solutions
Alpha Technologies Ltd.
has announced three products
to address the growing
demand for Heterogeneous
Network (HetNet) power.
The products include the
Micro 100for AC-powered
Small Cells, the CXPS-E3
for DAS Head Ends, and the
CXPS-W for Macro Cells.
"The diversity of HetNets requires power solutions that are tailored to
each specific application," said Grant Clark, vice president of Product Management & Development. "For Macro Cells, we need easily-cabled 48 V
power systems that can also provide 24 V outputsfor dual voltage sites. For
DAS Head Ends, the ability to house all the power and batteries in a single
rack provides much needed relieffor floor space and cabling. And for Small
Cells, power systems with sufficient battery backup to avoid resets during
most interruptions tothe AC grid."
The Alpha Micro 100 is designed to power outdoor Small Cells in harsh
operating environments, including regions with unstable AC grids. It provides battery backup for small cells that consume up to 100 Watts. Housed
in a NEMA 3R cabinet designed for pole/wall mounting, the Micro 100
includes an optional SNMP feature that provide access to system alarms and
status remotely.
The CXPS-E3, a 48V power system designed for DAS Head Ends,
provides a system breaker density of 26 positions in 3RU, enabling customers to fully utilize the system's 250 Amp capacity. In a single rack, the E3
power system can be combined withbatteries that supply up to four hours
of backup, eliminating the need for a separate battery rack. The single rack
solution allow operators toreduce the overall footprint of the facility, addressing the ongoing problem of increasing real estate costs.
The CXPS-W is a midsize system designed to power Macro Cells with
either single or dual voltage operation. The versatile system canbe configured for 48Vdc operation or equipped with DCDC converters to supply
both 48 V and 24 V. The system offers a vast array ofdistribution options,
including bullet and GJ style breakers plus TPL, TPS, and GMT fuses at
various power levels. With high efficiencyrectifiers, an intelligent system
controller and ample space for cabling, the "W" combines state-of-the-art
features to with traditional cablemanagement.
Compact 3U Design Provides High-Density, Space
Saving Solutions Across All Markets
Schaefer, Inc. has released the
C/B 600 series of DC-DC and
AC-DC converter modules and
battery charger (B600 models).
The reliable, compact and rugged
3U design uses industrial-grade
components and provides a highdensity, space saving solution for
applications in industries such
utility, oil/gas, automation, heavy
industrial, military, telecom/datacom, alternative energy, transit/
railway, process control and power stations.
The efficient C/B 600 series delivers up to 500 W of power and offers
DC input voltage range of 10-380 VDC with seven input range choices.
AC input options are single-phase 115 VAC or 230 VAC (with or without
PFC) or three-phase inputs of 3x200 VAC. These modules are single output
and are available in 12 standard ranges from 5-400 VDC. All outputs are
adjustable and tightly regulated to 0.2 percent (load) and 0.1 percent (line).
Featuring natural convection cooling and a standard operating temperature
range of -20°C to 75°C (derate 2.5 percent/°C from +55°C), with an option
for -40°C to 75°C.
Modules are housed in an industry-standard 3U form factor for insertion
into 19 inch sub-racks or optional wall, chassis and DIN-Rail mounting are

available. All models have comprehensive protection circuitry including
over-voltage protection, current limit protection on the output, and thermal
shutdown with auto restart. Options include parallel/redundant operation,
inhibit, Power-OK/DC-OK alarms, system reset signaling, active current
sharing and programming/monitoring functions, etc. Mechanical and electrical modifications are readily available.
SFC Energy Presents new EFOY ProCabinet with an
Integrated 500 W Fuel Cell
SFC Energy AG has made a new
addition to their portfolio of offgrid power generators, the EFOY
ProCabinet 4120S integrated with
our new EFOY Pro 12000 Duo, a
500 W fuel cell, delivering reliable,
weather independent off grid power
in demanding professional and
industrial applications.
The EFOY ProCabinet integrates
proven SFC fuel cell technology
with maximum application flexibility with SFC's most powerful
fuel cell to date. It features a nominal power of 500 W and a power capacity
of 12,000 Wh per day. Cabinets can be combined as required to provide
additional power.
The EFOY Pro 12000 Duo offers many decisive advantages; it delivers
fully automatic, maintenance free power, 24 hours a day, in any weather
and season, re¬quiring absolutely no user intervention over extremely long
periods of time. The fuel cell has two fuel connectors, allowing two, or
up to four, 28L fuel cartridges to be connected. Running off 112 L of fuel,
with four batteries included in the cabinet a 500 W application can be run
continuously for 10 days fully autonomously.
Like all EFOY fuel cells, the new power generator produces off-grid
power on demand. The fuel cell is connected to the batteries and continuously monitors their state of charge. As soon as this drops below a
predefined level, the fuel cell automatically switches into operating mode
and recharges the batteries. When they are full, the fuel cell returns into
stand-by mode. No fuel is consumed in standby mode.
The EFOY ProCabinet 4120S with integrated EFOY Pro 12000 Duo
fuel cell was specifically developed as robust off-grid and back-up power
source for industrial applications in de¬manding environmental scenarios.
It is fully automatic, maintenance free, remote-controlled, and will reliably
operate at a temperature range between -40°C and 40°C.
Flow-Rite Launches Battery Management Software
Battery Steward, Flow-Rite's latest innovation, is a cloud-based solution that organizes an operation's battery care schedule, sends alerts when
tasks are due, records maintenance and asset data, and allows the data to be
analyzed over time. The app is currently available to download for free on
the App Store and Google Play.
"For years Flow-Rite has advocated the simple truth that batteries last
longer when they are properly maintained," says Ron Earl, marketing director for Flow-Rite. "With Battery Steward, it's simpler now than ever before
to maintain your batteries. Not only does this product improve communications between equipment and staff, but it also illustrates the health of an
essential, yet often overlooked, asset."
Battery Steward utilizes a mobile device and identifying labels to create
easy-to-follow battery care task lists. Tasks are checked off by scanning the
identifying label that has been placed on a battery. Battery Steward highlights and elevates batteries with overdue maintenance tasks, minimizing
the chance of missing a task. Battery maintenance data is analyzed through
the online portal (www.BatterySteward.com) to help identify neglected,
misused, or abused batteries.
A set of identifying labels will come free with Flow-Rite's Millennium
single-point battery watering kits through participating Flow-Rite dealers.
Labels will be sold to customers who are outfitting existing equipment with
Battery Steward.
