Magic Of Cinema
IND: Amagi, a leader in cloudbased broadcast infrastructure
has announced a full-fledged
deployment of its Cloudport Edge
Playout servers for Magic of
Cinema (MOC). The 24x7 free-to-air
movie channel is available across
17 digital cable platforms.
Using cloud technologies, Amagi
says it has enabled MOC to
launch its channel at a fraction
of
traditional
satellite/fibre
infrastructure costs.
The entire playout is managed at
Amagi's Data Operations Centre in
Bangalore, which claims a 100%
service level performance.

6x60min drama adaptation of
Hilary Mantel's multi-awardwinning novels Wolf Hall and Bring
Up The Bodies.
Written by Peter Straughan
(Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy; The
Men who Stare at Goats) and
directed by Peter Kosminsky
(The Promise; The Government
Inspector), the cast includes Mark
Rylance as Thomas Cromwell and
Damian Lewis as King Henry VIII.
The series is a Company Pictures
and Playground Entertainment
co-production for BBC Two and
MASTERPIECE in association with
BBC Worldwide.

NeuLion Pays US$62.5M
For DivX

euLion is to acquire DivX in a deal
put at US$62.5 million.
NeuLion say that the transaction will
place the combined company at the
forefront of the global shift to 4K video
and OTT services in the fast-growing
online video market.
NeuLion CEO Nancy Li said: "By
delivering
interactive
viewing
experiences to consumers watching
live and on-demand content on digital
platforms, from desktop to mobile to
connected devices, NeuLion has built
a roster of the best known brands in
professional and college sports and TV
Everywhere, such as NFL, NHL, NBA,
UFC, Rogers and CCTV.

"Now, we are extending
our
franchise
and
bolstering our capabilities
with our acquisition of
DivX's entertainment and
consumer
electronics
customers, advanced 4K
video enabling technology products
and expansive geographic reach."
Commenting on the deal, Kanaan
Jemili, DivX's CEO said: "With our
recently
introduced
end-to-end
HEVC solution, DivX is helping to
drive adoption of 4K video and live
streaming.
We are excited about the opportunity
to extend our reach into the global

marketplace while we continue to
create technologies that bring high
quality viewing experience to digital
media consumers."
On closing of the transaction, Li will
become Executive Vice Chairman of
the NeuLion board of directors and
will drive the technology vision for the
company, and Jemili will be appointed
CEO of NeuLion.

EUR: Orad has released a new version
of its Social Media Hub (SMH) platform,
an easy-to-use solution that lets

Based on an open architecture, SMH
serves as a gateway for interfacing

third-party

Media
outlets such as Twitter, Facebook
and Instagram. SMH lets users
query, retrieve, review, filter and
aggregate data into carrousels of
messages that can be distributed
alongside the broadcast thanks
to seamless integration with Orad
graphic controllers Maestro, 3DPlay
and Morpho. The new SMH release
features a moderation component
that automates sifting through the
large quantities of social media data,
dramatically cutting down on the
amount of content they need to review.
