Pixel Power Drives UTV Ireland

ixel Power, the innovative
supplier of broadcast graphics
and automation solutions, is partnering
with new channel UTV Ireland to supply
technology to the newsroom.
Journalists can create static and
dynamic graphics sequences using
Pixel Power LogoVision Clips, linked
to the Avid production and scripting
system.
UTV is the leading independent
television station in Northern Ireland,
where it is an extensive user of Pixel
Power graphics products.
The channel, which serves viewers in
the Republic of Ireland, is transmitted
from Belfast, using Pixel Power
BrandMaster graphics and control,
with news broadcast live from a newstate-of-the-art newsroom in Dublin.
Pixel Power's LogoVision provides
a cost-effective platform for graphics
in a high pressure, automated
environment.
Using
pre-built
templates, the device populates
news graphics, weather reports
and more with information entered

automatically or transferred from
other systems.
Alongside the flexible integration
capabilities, it provides excellent
quality thanks to its 10-bit HD
downstream keyer, and high reliability
through redundant power supplies and
automated bypass.
"The Dublin newsroom was a
standalone greenfield site for us, so
we started with a blank sheet of paper
for the equipment," said Michael
Corcoran, Director of Broadcast
Technology and Operations.
"Having experience of Pixel Power
products we were confident LogoVision
would do exactly what we needed,
including the integration with Avid."
At UTV Ireland the Pixel Power
LogoVision is linked to an Avid iNews
preparation and playout system. An
ActiveX plug-in for each workstation
allows journalists to prepare graphics
and link them directly to the story as
well as use the WYSIWYG preview to
check spelling, formatting and layout
of template elements.

For rundowns and playout the
newsroom uses Avid iNews and
Command,
which
automates
programme production.

okus TV, the educational and
scientific channel of the Polish
ZPR Media group, was launched in May
2014.
Distributed 24/7 over both terrestrial
and satellite DVB networks, Fokus TV
has been scoring high viewer share
rates since it appeared free on the air.
Obviously, finance has to come from
advertisers, and here is the success
story about these advertisement sales.
In the last few years, ZPR has been
very successful and has acquired
several media companies including
radio stations, publishing houses
and the Internet advertisement sales
agency IDMnet.
In their effort to consolidate the
group's ad sales activities, it was

necessary to extend the internet
business activities adding television
and radio. For such a task, it is
impossible to survive with an Excel
spreadsheet or a simple application.
