Phabrix will introduce Version 9.02
of its Rx rack mount test equipment.
Dolby decode and metadata reporting
has been enhanced to include Dolby
E, Dolby D and Dolby D plus. The
user can select left and right channel
sources or mute channels if required
to identify audio at any time. Loudness
instrumentation
supports
single
channel logging and can be optionally
extended to four channel. The onboard
video generator now provides direct
system timing adjustment. Multi-frame
capture has been included; this can be
both manual and fault triggered to disk
for analysis.
PlayBox Technology is expanding
the audio capabilities of its AirBox
broadcast playout and streaming
system with the addition of Dolby
Digital Plus and Dolby E encoding
and decoding. AirBox with SurCode
for Dolby Digital Plus encoding and
decoding enables broadcasters and
playout facilities to deliver cinemastyle 5.1-channel surround sound,
while maintaining high quality at more
efﬁcient bit rates without needing
external hardware codecs. The
encoded stream is fully compatible
with all Dolby Digital decoders. Dolby

E allows the simple contribution of
multichannel audio for live events
and provides frame-accurate audio to
ensure effortless switching, editing,
encoding, and decoding.
Primestream's Xchange Suite v4.0
gives broadcasters remote access
to content on their Fork Production
servers from any PC or tablet device.
Features include the Insight comment,
rating and media activity tracking
system. Xchange v4.0 also brings
the ability to download and import
content, metadata and markers from
Xchange into editors such as Apple
Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere
Pro CC. Xchange is available for HTML5
supported Web browsers & Apple iOS.
Ross Video will show SmartShell 4,
a single, uniﬁed control system for its
CamBot and Furio pedestals, lifts, and
heads. USB-based joystick panels are
provided. The Furio Pedestal has a
three-wheeled manual pedestal base
for Furio lifts and heads. This supports
cameras that need robotic control but
primarily remain in a static location.
The pedestal provides full virtual
tracking data of all robotic axes for use
in virtual sets and augmented reality.

Shotoku
Broadcast
Systems
marks its seventieth anniversary by
introducing the TP500 compact and
lightweight pneumatic pedestal. This
can support camera payloads of up to
55kgs and is adjustable from 665 to
1,485 millimetres height. Intended for
multi-location use such as OB, studio
or event production, it has an integral
pedestal inﬂation pump. The TP500
can be paired with Shotoku's SX300
and SH100/120 pan and tilt heads.
Simian's Now! app that allows
Simian users to download reels and
other media assets to their Apple
iPhone or iPad for playback ofﬂine,
without an Internet connection.
It can be used in conjunction with
Apple AirPlay via Apple TV to stream
media ﬁles to an HDTV display. Now!
complements Simian's existing Go!
app.
Sony's new BVM-X300 is its ﬁrst
OLED master monitor to combine 4K
resolution, high dynamic range and
a wide colour gamut display. The
new 30-inch model expands Sony's
Trimaster EL series and provides an
OLED option for professional video
production applications including

colour grading, on-set monitoring
and quality control in a 4K workﬂow.
It supports 2 Sample Interleave
and Square Division signals. Also
supported are HD signals including
3G-SDI quad-link up to 4096 x
2160/48p/50p/60p, 3G-SDI single link
for 1920 x 1080/50p/60p, YCbCr 4:2:2
10-bit, and 3G-SDI dual link for 1920
x1080/50p/60p, 4:4:4 12/10-bit.

Las Vegas has a lot more hotels,
motels and rentable apartments than
most cities so late booking is usually
quite easy. And don't ignore the
parallel conference which nowadays
is an excellent indicator of likely new
developments in the coming years.

Apantac Launches T# Multiviewers
A

pantac, a provider of costeffective multiviewers, video
walls, extenders, and signal processing
solutions is launching its T# (T Sharp)
multiviewers at NAB 2015.
The T# multiviewer is based on a
revolutionary modular architecture
from Apantac. Three frame sizes (1RU,
2RU, 4RU) and 16 pre-conﬁgured
models are available.
The pre-conﬁgured models can be
easily expanded by adding additional
input or output boards. All boards are
hot swappable and interchangeable
between all three frame sizes. One of
the most important new features in
the T# Multiviewer series is that all
input sources can be duplicated up to
64 times (on a single display) and any
input is available to any output. This
modular architecture concept ensures
a future-proof Multiviewer solution
for Broadcasters and professional AV
facilities.
When
fully
populated
(using
the largest frame), the hardware
accommodates eight input boards,

each with up to eight video inputs
supported, for a total of 64 3G/HD/SDSDI and Composite Video inputs. T# is
also built with 4K/UHD in mind.
For 4K/US support, simply combine
four 3G-SDI BNCs as a single 4K/UHD
input.
For each SDI input, 16 channels of
embedded audio is supported, and can
be decoded to display as on-screen
audio meters. Two output boards
with four outputs each provide a total

of eight outputs per chassis. Output
board format support includes: Fibre,
SDI, HDMI, HDMI extenders, and
HDBaseT extenders.
T# supports output resolutions up
to 1920x1200 including 1080p. In
addition, T# is 4K/UHD output ready.
To support an expanded range of
input formats, Apantac has both HDMI
and IP input boards on their shortterm product road-map.

Multiviewers, T# supports third party
routers and production switchers,
utilises a ﬂexible and simple skin
technology that allows users to
customise their on-screen display of
graphics including; borders, labels,

embedded audio, discrete audio
meters and audio / video alarms.
Video windows on the display may
include multiple labels, and support
UMD, OMD, IMD & standalone labels.
