Once set up, these are initiated
by pressing one button. Also recently
introduced is the Egripment Slider,
a tripod-mountable 1.2metre track
intended for cameras weighing up
to 20kg in upright or suspended
configurations. The crossbars of the
track can be attached to a 100mm or
150mm mounting bowl. The Slider fits
into a Pelicase 1770 and weights no
more than 26kg.
Hague Camera Supports' K14
Pro boom is designed for use with
cameras weighing up to 14kg. Its
telescopic
counterbalancing
arm
accepts standard bar weights for
counterbalance. All axis points have
radial ball bearings giving 2 metres of
vertical crane movement. The K14 Pro
is supplied with a 100mm bowl and a
75 to 100mm stepper ring. The boom
can be used on any 100/75mm "Bowl
type" tripod or a Hague D3/D7 Dolly.
Libec's Swift Jib-50 is equipped with
a telescopic arm extendable to 90cm
allowing high-angle shots when used
in conjunction with remote head. The
arm can be slid back 30cm towards the
rear of the boom.
A complete kit is available
comprising the arm, tripod legs, dolly
and transit cases.
Mo-Sys' U50 is a remote pan/
tilt head designed to allow fast
acceleration and deceleration of
broadcast cameras weighing up to
50kg.
"The U50 is ideal for sporting events
and long-range filming environments,"

tilt motors, but now with a double
space-frame design, the U50 is our
strongest head to date." A cable hole
through the centre of the gear boxes
removes the need for slip-rings and
allows for tangle free direct cabling.
The U50 can be operated with a
variety of input devices such as
hand-wheels, pan-bar or joystick. The
button-console interface provides
controls
for
pan/tilt
velocity
adjustment, input smoothing and
direction, user defined position limits
with feathering and axes zeroing.
OConnor's 1040 fluid head is
designed for use with the Vinten
Sachtler Flowtech100 tripod. The
combination is claimed to allow
continuous ultra-smooth camera pan
and tilt including accurate balance
at any point in the tilt range. It can
support payloads from 0 to 20kg
across a +/- 90 degree tilt range.
Shotoku SX200 and SX260 pan and
tilt heads now incorporate Shotoku's
'Truebalance' counterbalance. The
drag mechanism uses Shotoku's
Viscam design but adds a new stepped
actuation plus the fine tuning and
on-shot adjustment of a continuously
variable design. The SX200 has a max
payload of 20kg and the SX260 25kg).
The systems come standard with twostage ENG carbon fibre legs and is
claimed to be one of the lightest on
the market at these payloads.
Vinten's FH-155 is a robotic/manual
pan/tilt head a maximum payload
capacity of 70kg. Available for both
the FH-155 and its companion, the
robotic-only FHR-155, the optional
StarTracker module is an absolutereference system that enables driftfree, real-time tracking for roaming
pedestals in both robotic and manual
modes. Cameras using StarTracker can
be used in multiple studios without
needing additional calibration. The
manual mode includes continuously
adjustable servo-controlled drag.
Operators can switch between robotic
and manual modes either at the head
or from the Vinten HD-VRC controller.

The FH-155 and the FHR-155 are
claimed to be near-silent when
in motion. "The FH-155 delivers
remarkable control and accuracy at
any speed, with optional variants
offering precise data to support
advanced studio graphics and ensure
productions can create a unique visual
identity," comments Neil Gardner,
Vinten's global product manager,
robotics and automation.

Support Accessories
Cambo has added a fine-ratio drive
to its Actus line of accessories. The
AC-380 re-places the existing focus
knob and offers a dual drive, one of
which reduces the ratio to 1:5. For the
Actus-B series, the same drive can
be mounted to the front standard to
control tilt movement. For the Actus-G
series, tilt movement requires the
equivalent AC-381 version.
CameraGrip's Camslide Micro Go is
a camera slider for cameras of up to
800g weight. Its rail can be used on a
table, floor or tripod mounted. It has a
standard 1/4-inch camera screw and a
tilting ball head. A 1/4-inch threaded
hole in the centre of the rail allows
the rail to be mounted on a tripod.
Dimensions are 500 x 90 x 50mm.
Steadicam's M-2 modular camera
stabiliser integrates the company's
Volt horizontal stabiliser for reduced
weight, height, and a simplified rig
design. "Building Volt directly into
the top stage dramatically reduces

the distance between the top of the
gimbal and top of the stage for a more
compact design," says marketing SVP
An-drew Tiffen. "With the M-2 we are
offering a wide variety of choices to
allow opera-tors to build a sled as
close to their needs as possible." The
new lightweight base is available with
either Gold Mount or V-Lock battery
plates and an optional hot-swappable
third battery mount.
Telemetrics'
RCCP-2A
robotics
and camera control panel includes
artificial intelligence and facial
recognition algorithms which can
track several people with multiple
cameras simultaneously.
"We're layering object-tracking on
top of our facial tracking, so reFrame
becomes more robust," says VP
Michael Cuomo. "When a person
turns around, we can still track
them because the system intuitively
knows the face and body were there
before. Other systems can't do this."
The software is designed to run a
production in a fully automated mode
without operator intervention. The
panel includes eight controls which
adapt to the operator's commands.
Wooden Camera's new Shoulder
Rig V3 includes telescopic arms, arm
rotation points to widen or narrow
grip spacing, a shoulder pad and an
integrated kickstand for setting the
rig down. It is available with rubber or
leather grips.
Vocus has introduced a handheld
shoulder rig for use with compact
cinematographic cameras operated
with the external viewfinder or LCD
screen at the front of the camera.
The rail support is adjustable to
accommodate various cameras. The
shoulder pad and the counterweight
are mounted directly to the rig's 15mm
rails which can also accommodate
accessories such as a follow focus or
matte box.
