Canon - meeting the rising demand for
high-quality remote broadcasting

television system in 1926, we've seen
an incredible wealth of innovation in
broadcast - responding to constantly
changing
viewer
and
industry
demands. In the past year alone we've
seen it adapt and transform at an
incredible pace - thanks to the evolving
viewer consumption habits and filming
restrictions and requirements brought
about by the pandemic. As a result,
broadcasters have had to rethink the
way they capture and share content
with audiences - working with smaller
crews, reduced budgets, alternative
platforms and different technology.
Naturally, there's been an uptick in
remote production. Responding to this
rising demand, Canon has developed
a broad range of products to help
broadcasters. It's latest launch of a
new remote camera system includes

three new PTZ cameras - the CR-N500,
CR-N300 and CR-X500.
The CR-N500, CR-N300 indoor PTZ
cameras and the CR-X500 outdoor PTZ
camera combine Canon's advanced
imaging and network technologies to
offer high-quality 4K UHD footage with
various IP protocol compatibilities,
including the newly developed XC
Protocol, that realises a simple
and efficient remote production
workflow. Along with the RC-IP100
hardware controller or Remote
Camera Control Application,
the new XC Protocol will soon
enable compatibility with other
Canon video products - helping
broadcasters customize their
remote production system to
suit their needs. In addition
to this, Canon's PTZ line-up
offers broadcasters incredible
flexibility - whatever the

production - boasting features such
as: multiple video output terminals
(SDI/HDMI/IP), various control and
streaming protocols, variable pan/
tilt speeds for precise control and
detail picture quality settings.
Ideal for studio use, with its 1-inch
CMOS sensor, the CR-N500 offers
broadcasters high sensitivity and HDR
capabilities - whatever the lighting
conditions. The camera can also record
in Canon Log 3, further enhancing
its compatibility with Cinema EOS
cameras, as well as maximising the
HDR performance. The CR-N300 offers
similar capabilities
in a compact body
and
supports
Canon's CR-N500

Brand new UltraHD PTZ camera

up to 4K 60p at 4:2:2 10-bit. The
camera can also output via a single
12G-SDI cable and, like the CR-N500,
features Canon's renowned Dual Pixel
AF - helping broadcasters capture
action in pin-sharp focus.
The industry has faced many
challenges throughout the last
year. Canon's new PTZ line-up
helps meet those challenges
- opening up a world of
opportunities for broadcasters
whatever the remote filming
scenario.

The PTC-280 also features dual
streaming encoders to directly stream
the event to your favourite streaming
platform. This camera is also
completely compatible with dvCloud,
making sharing your stream over
multiple platforms a lot easier. With
the optional BB-1 you can also control
your complete production through
the internet, using the low latency
advantages of the built in SRT encoder.
PTC-280 can be controlled over IP
using DVIP. This can be done with the
RMC-300A IP camera controller or
using the PTZ View Assist app running
on an iOS or Android tablet.
PTC-280 is the perfect camera for
anybody who wants to take their
existing HD workflow up to the next
