InB: How is MainConcept helping

TK: MainConcept is making the
transition seamless by bringing our
video codecs to macOS and Windows
on ARM-processors. When it comes
to encoding and decoding, the ARM
Desktop SDK is optimized for up to 2x
faster performance when compared to
an unoptimized version.
This means production software
using the SDK can outperform other
standard and unoptimized software.

TK: We are honoured to be the first
company selected to build a plugin
that will further enhance the already
amazing DaVinci Resolve editing

best video editing software available,
including products from Adobe, Avid,
Autodesk, Corel and Magix. With the
addition of Blackmagic Design, I am
proud to say that our codecs are now

How to link the old and the
new world of audio broadcast

ight now, harmonization of
old and new transmission
technologies is crucial, especially since
nobody can ignore the advantages,
that IP based multimedia networks
offer. To support broadcasters in these
times of rapidly evolving technologies,
our team of engineers developed the
4audio series. A broadcasters " Swiss
Army Knife " combined with " Quality
made in Germany " , designed for
studio, distribution, streaming, and
the multimedia working methods.
It's heart is a Linux based, embedded
software which allows for flexibility in
system design, whether the need is for
hardware, software to run on VM or in
the cloud, or remote-control.

The MoIN Multimedia over IP
Network software just says hello to
the networks and connects them in
a friendly manner. MoIN follows the
same technical concept as the 4audio

IP boxes. It fulfills various use-cases
in the studio, and for distribution or
streaming (HLS, Icecast). The software
consists of several containers that can
run separately and isolated to achieve
good scalability and reliability of the
system. Bringing up a container is
done in five seconds. The software
allows the activation of up to 512
channels. MoIN is easy to adapt to any
studio environment. It's transcoding
facilities allow the direct feeding of
distribution systems such as DAB+, IP,
or satellite. Moreover, it enables to
fully integrate podcast and remotely
working teams into the studios
network environment.

InB: Is MainConcept developing

lot of changes in our 28 years in the
industry, so we are adept at staying
ahead of what our customers need. It
is a dynamic time in the codec market
with MPEG delivering three new codecs
through standardisation: MPEG 5
LCEVC, EVC and VVC. We have active
development projects for all three of
these codecs and are working closely
with our partners in the industry to
bring them to market. While we do not
have a crystal ball to predict which of
these codecs will ultimately see wide
deployment, our R&D team is readying
the tools needed to enable the
industry's next technology leap and to
power the digital universe in the 21st
century.

MPX-2c and MPX-1c:
MPX over IP distribution offers the
chance to do the sound processing in
the studio, to distribute the same audio
to each site and to safe equipment at
the transmitter.
At the headend, the
studios can directly
ingest their streams
as all AoIP protocols
are supported. After
generating the MPX
signal, it is possible to
encode it 100% lossless
or compressed with
µMPX. Receiving the signal at the
transmitter can be via IP and satellite.
Besides, local audio or RDS data can
also be exchanged.

4audio DAB: DAB-4c
The high-density bi-directional EDI
<> ETI converter enables to operate old
and new multiplexers or transmitters.
Features like PFT Dual Streaming
guarantee 365/24/7 transmission. An
optional satellite receiver allows for
DAB distribution in regions lacking of
IP.
