PTZ Camera Upgrades Enhance
Video Transport Efficiency,
Quality and Security

being streamlined to allow highquality
and secure delivery of lowlatency
video. It's exciting to be at
the forefront of these widespread
technological enhancements that
help improve our industry and the
world's access to creative content.
One such technology particularly
stands out. SRT - Secure Reliable
Transport - is perhaps the most
efficient way to securely send
high-quality, low-latency video
over the public internet. SRT is a
video transport protocol invented
and subsequently open-sourced by
Haivision.
Recently, engineers at PTZOptics
updated our cameras' firmware to
add SRT compatibility.
Using popular video production
software such as OBS, Wirecast,
and vMix to create content for
our
streaming shows, we're
enthusiastic to show how SRT
integrates our cameras with these
platforms. Today, video producers,
independent broadcasters, and
news organizations are using SRT
to enable efficiencies in remote
productions from around the
world. SRT is ideal when sending a
camera out into the field, beyond a
local area network. As production
processes continue to evolve to
span a wide range of locations and
scenarios, SRT is a welcome and
important addition.
SRT-compatible hardware and
software
solutions
have
also
become more affordable, with
schools, houses of worship, and
government agencies now adopting
the protocol. Traversing firewalls
seamlessly and enabling end-toend
security, SRT is also used by
the world's largest live production
companies. By providing optimal
streaming performance across
unpredictable networks, SRT makes
it possible to remotely receive
video
from
almost
anywhere
in the world that has sufficient
internet access. Producers can rest
assured that video quality won't
be sacrificed in situations where
bandwidth may fluctuate.
Another technology that our
customers are regularly adopting
is NDI (Network Device Interface).
A brand of the Vizrt Group, NDI is
one of the most widely adopted
IP technologies on the market
today. NDI SDK is a royalty-free
technology that allows video and
audio sources to be shared bidirectionally
across a network,
eliminating the need for costly
direct connections, expensive cable
runs, and infrastructure upgrades
while turning every source into
a destination instantly available
anywhere on the network.
PTZOptics NDI cameras now
support NDIv4, making them
compatible with almost any
NDI
integration
that
available
today.
Additionally, NDIv4 has a new autogeneration
feature for multicast, a
technology
allows networks
to send and receive multiple video
feeds at the same time without
congesting a network with ondemand
video traffic. A properly
configured, multicast-enabled
network is required in order to use
the new NDI multicast features.
While SRT works over the
public Internet and NDI optimizes
workflow on a local network, both
video transport technologies allow
camera users to thrive in a variety
of production scenarios.
