Optimal streaming from latest JVC 4K
PTZ cameras, featuring NDI®|HX and SRT
The recent pandemic has seen the
rise of smaller live streamed events,
with an increased demand for camera
systems to suit these more compact
productions. JVC has recently
introduced a new range of 4K and
HD PTZ cameras, which provide
NDI®|HX and SRT enhanced streaming
features, perfect for exactly this kind
of remote IP event production.
The new JVC KY-PZ400N 4K and
KY-PZ200N HD PTZ cameras provide
optimal streaming image quality and
performance for remote production
over the internet and are equipped
with
NDI®|HX
and
SRT
streaming,
H.265 / H.264 / MJPEG encoding and
VITC (Vertical Interval Timecode)
multi-camera synchronisation
technologies. A third model, the HD
KY-PZ200, provides an economical
solution, without NDI®|HX. All camera
models are available in black or white
variations to best match the ambience
of the venue or project.

NDI®|HX technology from Vizrt Group,
the JVC PTZ cameras now offer a
high-quality, low-latency IP video
transmission standard that's ideal for
streaming in an ever-evolving media
landscape. "
In addition to the NDI®|HX
functionalities of the 4K KY-PZ400N
and HD KY-PZ200N, all three cameras
include SRT, HTTP, RTSP, RTMP/RTMPS
and standard protocols. With SRT open
source technology now becoming
synonymous to JVC cameras, PTZ users
are afforded a truly future-proofed
solution with continual firmware
updates. The advanced streaming
capabilities of the incorporated SRT
technology adds automatic repeat
request (ARQ) and forward error
correction (FEC) to prevent packet
loss typically found on internet
connections. It also offers stream
encryption for content protection.
Additionally, with the incorporated
Vertical Interval Time Code (VITC)
with Network Time Protocol (NTP),
the new JVC PTZ cameras feature
multi-camera synchronisation for
live event production. This feature is
ideal for the mixing and streaming
of concerts, shows, sports and
other live productions where image
synchronisation is crucial. Remote
control capabilities are possible via
JVC's RM-LP100 remote camera
controller,
JVC's
KM-IP6000/4000
CONNECTED CAM STUDIO live IP
production suites or via a variety of
other options using standard protocol
from vMix, OBS Studio and NewTek.
For remote conferences and lectures,
the KY-PZ200N and KY-PZ200 support
UVC (USB Video Class), which enables
the cameras to be used as webcams.
Both models can be directly connected
to a PC using a USB cable, making
them ideal for a range of educational
and other digital applications.
Equipped with a 4K 1/2.5-inch
progressive scanning CMOS image
sensor, the KY-PZ400N has a wide
angle of view (approx. 26.4mm
@35mm equivalence),
0.5

zoom. The KY-PZ200N and KY-PZ200
models

progressive CMOS image sensor, as
well as 20x optical zoom equivalent
to 606.9mm @35mm. They produce
superb broadcast-quality images, even
in low light environments, with clear
natural foreground images even under
challenging highlight conditions. All
three cameras have HDMI and 3G-SDI,
RJ45 with PoE, RS232 and RS485
interfaces as standard.
" Of course, the pandemic has also
given the industry reason to reevaluate
workflows and production
practices, especially the move to
remote
production
over
IP, "
John
Kelly comments. " For example, in
sports production, many clubs are
now directly streaming live matches to
their audiences, many of whom cannot
attend the venues in person. Of course,
the budgets for such production setups
are relatively small when compared
with 'traditional' larger OB-type
events. Setups typically use two to
four cameras, including PTZ models,
with content delivery over IP rather
than traditional over-the-air. This
has allowed sports clubs to retain an
income stream and engage not only
with their normal core audience but
also expanding to those who may not
normally be able to attend in person. "
Most manufacturers have been
readjusting their product roadmaps
and strategies to match the 'new
normal' environment. " Any reduction
in demand for traditional live event
production,
which may have
been
cancelled due to the pandemic, has
been off-set by an increase in smaller
events, with more compact production
system requirements, " adds Kelly.
