Embracing All That IP Transport
Offers with GatesAir

oday, GatesAir offers one of the
most diverse and feature-rich
Audio over IP product lines in the
industry.
The company's range of IP Link
codecs represents an evolving
family of intelligent, reliable and
affordable IP networking solutions
specifically designed for broadcasters
transitioning from TDM-based systems.
A built-in feature to IP Link codecs,
GatesAir's unique DSS software sends
multiple identical streams over the
same network, or two separate paths.
Each stream borrows data from
companion streams to avoid artefacts
and service interruptions from packet
loss. Innovations such as DSS confirms
that broadcasters can achieve the
same reliability with AoIP as with
legacy systems.

GatesAir is emphasising two
new innovations tied to the IT
infrastructure, both involving its
Intraplex Ascent IP transport platform.
Ascent is GatesAir's first Intraplex
system to live on a COTS x86 server,
and provides broadcasters with
a highly scalable, redundant and
cloud-based
transport
platform
for multichannel contribution and
distribution.
Ascent offers a direct connection to
traditional digital and analogue audio
interfaces, and is compliant with the
AES67 standard and today's leading
AoIP networking solutions. Ascent
is available as a 1RU server, with
configurable options for physical and
AES67 channels; and a software-only
solution that operates in a virtualised
container.

Ascent adds further value by
allowing users to manage many Secure
Reliable Transport (SRT) streams on
a centralised platform - an industryfirst in Audio over IP networking for
broadcasters.
SRT is a low-latency open source
media streaming protocol that
provides packet encryption and retransmission capabilities.
To further strengthen stream
robustness and reliability, Ascent
integrates the Dynamic Stream
Splicing software that Intraplex
customers rely on to maximise
redundancy and reliability.
Just in time for the show, GatesAir
has added a new application to its
Intraplex Ascent transport platform
to support reliable and secure video
over IP transport alongside audio.

The new Ascent SRT Gateway, which
firmly brings Ascent into the television
market, will especially be useful for
broadcasters managing contributed
video and/or audio content for pointto-multipoint distribution.
The addition of DSS software will
support duplication of SRT streams
with video and embedded audio over
separate network paths, leveraging
a single stream-splicing buffer for
hitless protection against errors and
failures. This is especially useful for
our customers who are distributing
real-time video and audio over
microwave, fibre and IP connections,
and transporting those high-bandwidth
streams to multiple studios or
transmitter sites.

in its POV line of camera at the show...

s part of a complete evolution
of Marshall's award winning
POV cameras line, the new CV506
HD Miniature Camera incorporates
next-generation imaging technology
to pack a larger sensor and upgraded
processors into an improved industrial
design. Broadcasters will notice a true
step-up in colour and clarity, as well as
improved signal strength, and ultralow noise output. This next generation
camera line greatly improves upon
nearly every feature that has made
the current Marshall POV cameras
so widely adopted in broadcast and
professional AV applications.
The CV506, on display offers
simultaneous 3GSDI and HDMI
options,
flexibility,
and
great value in a tiny form
factor. It delivers ultracrisp, clear progressive HD
video up to 1920x1080p at
60/59/50fps
and
interlaced

1920x1080i at 60/59.94/50fps. With
interchangeable lenses and remote
adjustability for matching with other
cameras, the CV506 is suitable for a
range of professional workflows as
it can capture detailed shots while
maintaining an ultra-discreet pointof-view perspective without sacrificing
versatility or convenience.
The CV506 serves as an upgrade
over the popular Marshall CV505,
with a 30% larger sensor for better
picture, colour depth, and low light

8.5-Megapixel, 1/2.5-inch sensor

performance, along
with an improved
housing
design.
Other key upgrades to
the line include the new CV503,
an upgrade of the best-selling CV502
model, the CV344, an upgrade of the
CV343 and the CV346, an upgrade of
the CV345. These updated cameras
include all frame rates in one model.
In addition, newly added stereo
audio inputs and 23.98 fps for TV and
cinema production is now standard
on all models. The upgraded POV
camera line also features a new body
style with locking I/O connections,
and the addition of white clip and
pedestal control with remote image
adjustment capability. New models will
also enable field-upgradable firmware
updates as new features are added.
Marshall is also featuring its CV380CS Compact 4K Camera at the show.
The CV380-CS uses an 8.5-Megapixel,

1/2.5-inch sensor,
to capture detailed
video images up to
True 4K (4096x2160),
and outputs in 6G/3G/HD-SDI and
HDMI 1.4. Simultaneous 6G-SDI and

lens options offer even more versatility
for Marshall integrators. The CV380CS is designed for any POV camera
application where a small, miniature
camera can fit into unique locations
for compelling angles and viewpoints.
The CV380-CS has a varifocal or fixed
CS/C lens mount with DC Auto-Iris
capability and can accept a range of
interchangeable lenses for enhanced
customization. The CV380-CS is among
the first additions to Marshall's latest
generation of compact and miniature
cameras utilizing a fully redesigned
body style and form factor.
