OUR G L OB A L WOR K Our support for community enterprises in Mexico's Oaxaca region builds livelihoods, safeguards nature and also supports women and young people to have a stronger role in their communities OUR GOAL: TO DRIVE NATUREPOSITIVE ECONOMIES BY ENGAGING MARKET ACTORS TO COMMIT, ACT AND ADVOCATE FOR NATURE WWF INTERNATIONAL 2022 PLASTICS MANIFESTO Working with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and BCG, we launched a business manifesto calling for a global treaty to end plastic pollution. The manifesto was endorsed by over 160 companies, including financial institutions with more than US$5 trillion in assets under management, and helped catalyse government action (see page 30). COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE Conservation enterprises led by Indigenous Peoples and communities are powerful allies for nature but often face significant obstacles. Our Nature Pays hub empowers these types of small-scale businesses to gain access to markets, with 13 enterprises in Oaxaca, Mexico supported in 2022 in partnership with IKEA Social Entrepreneurship.
