RON: As a leader in the automotive aftermarket, can
you talk to us about BG's plans to cater to the growing
PHEV and EV segment?
DARIN: There is an old saying: " Change is the only
constant. " I have watched this in the automotive industry
for nearly 40 years.
Our process has always been to monitor change, identify
opportunities caused by the change, and modify
our products/programs so we can capitalize.
We have already made modifications to some of our
products and programs to align with the EVs and
HEVs. We were actually the first to market with an
HEV product kit. We've also built marketing programs
around specific platforms to enhance awareness of the
special maintenance needs of these vehicles.
As EVs/HEVs become more commonplace, we will
continue to develop new products and services as this
technology advances. Additionally, you will see BG address
service needs for vehicle components that have
previously been overlooked. This shift will create new
services and programs for dealers to sell and continue
to bring value to their customers, while maintaining
revenue and profitability.
RON: What advice or strategy would you recommend
to dealers for 2022?
DARIN: Evaluate your vendor partners and ask yourself
if they are strategically aligned with the shop's

goals. Don't just look at your maintenance chemistry
supplier, but all your vendors. Are they bringing value
beyond the product they sell? Are they helping you
achieve your goals? It's important that you surround
your business with like-minded partners. Everyone
should be working toward the common goal of making
your shop more profitable. If they're not, find the
ones that will.
