They may actually have a more effective way to do what is to them a no-brainer of a task because of a digital environment in which they grew up. You can't expect your team to deliver what you haven't trained them to do TRAINING AND CROSS-TRAINING IS KEY TO INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM GROWTH Creating supportive cohesive teams promotes the atmosphere for cross-training. How often has it been said, " I don't have time to train? " Do you not have time or are you not making the time? You can't expect your team to deliver what you haven't trained them to do. EMPOWER YOUR TEAM MEMBERS Empowering your team is the next element that keeps things moving. Rather than waiting for you to come back or return a phone call, your team members should be empowered to make decisions. Your people usually already know what and how to address the concern or issue at hand. Why not let them handle it? When they can make the decision to do the right thing, they feel empowered. They appreciate the high level of trust that you and the company have put in them. More times than not, they will make as good and sometimes better decisions than you might because they have more info about the situation or issue at hand. There might be some bad calls. If so, address them immediately as opportunities to teach and move on. IT HAPPENS - RIGHT PERSON IN WRONG POSITION Sometimes you place a good person in the wrong job. You hired this person. You have already invested time and money into this employee. You saw something good in him or her.
