I found out during my first trip to get an oil change
that I was an " outsider " . I hated the experience. So,
think about your favorite restaurants, shops, or experiences
in ways you were treated that made you say,
" Wow, that was better than I expected " . One time I
was on a business trip and while I was at the hotel it
snowed. Early that morning I looked out the window
and said to myself, " I'd better leave a little early so I
can clear the snow off of my car. " Later when I went
outside to leave, my car windshield and all the other
glass was clear! Someone from the front desk was
cleaning every car's windshield in the parking lot. I
was " Wow'd! "
THE " WOW " IS THE SUM OF
THE FIVE HOWS
So, stop and think for a while about what the perfect
experience would be in your Service Department and
then map out how to make it a reality. Try to think
about the experience first and then the " sale " as secondary.
If you get customers saying " Wow " , you won't

have to think about sales or profit - that will become
the easiest part of your day..
