FLEX TO BUILD MUSCLE
Flexing is more than just showing off, it's also a
way to build strength. Muscle flexing, more
accurately known as muscle contraction, is
creating tension that's temporarily making the
muscle fibers smaller or contracted. Isometrics
strengthen your muscles by contracting them,
keeping them still while they face resistance. So,
instead of pulling and pushing weights, your
muscle is being strengthened by holding still.
COLORFUL CHOICES
When choosing vegetables
and fruits, go for variety.
Different vegetables and
fruits supply different
nutrients. Eat at least
three servings of dark
green leafy vegetables, red
or deep orange fruits, and
veggies often.
FOCUS ON FORM, NOT WEIGHT
While you should always train as heavily as
possible and increase the weight as often as you
can, you must also perform the exercises using
good form. Heaving a lot of weight can make
you feel macho, but the improper form will
keep you from developing the best physique.
THE DOWN DOG
Because this yoga pose strengthens and
stretches, practicing the down dog targets
your hamstring, calves; plus balance and
flexibility throughout your body. Start on
all fours. Press your butt up lifting your
knees off the ground so your body
forms a V shape. Hold this position
for at least a full minute, focusing
on stretching in your spine.
Then slowly bring your
knees back to the ground.
