updating our kitchen and

of our home. What are
some things to consider
and what should I expect

renovation. You will likely need to

what you need, and what you
can afford. Talk to your financial
adviser or banker about what your
financial situation will allow and
how they could help you.
You should take time to think
about what matters most when
it comes to your renovation and
compare that list to your budget.
Homeowners often have a long
list of things they want, but don't
know what those items will cost.

The prices you may see in a home
improvement store do not always
represent the same quality, finish,
or have the same warranty as
similar items installed by a professional. The internet may give you
ideas, but talking to an expert will
help you get a grasp on the true
costs of the project. Always leave
room for surprises in your budget.
The more complex the project, the
greater the chance of unknowns.
Consider your own situation.
While most people will first think
about the cost of the project in dollars and cents, consider the impact
to your living situation. Are you
planning to live in the home during
the renovation? How will you be
able to cook meals without your
