productroundup 30V PowerTrench MOSFET 4-core Intel i7 embedded  In a 3.3mm x 3.3mm PQFN form factor to save up to 66% PCB area, the FDMC8010 30V Power 33 MOSFET uses Fairchild’s PowerTrench technology, and offers a maximum RDS(ON) of only 1.3 mΩ, a claimed 25% less than other solutions in this footprint. Additionally, the device reduces conduction losses thereby improving thermal efficiency by up to 25%. It costs $0.87 (1000).  Fairchild Semiconductor, www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/FD/FDMC8010 Kontron now supports quadcore 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3615QE (4x2.3GHz, 6MB L2 cache) and i7-3612QE (4x2.1GHz, 6MB L2 cache) processors on seven embedded computing platforms, to offer increased computing power, graphics performance, long-term availability and energy efficiency to embedded applications. Available board formats are COM Express basic, Flex-ATX, Mini-ITX, AdvancedMC, 3U and 6U CompactPCI as well as 3U VPX. Kontron estimates increases of up to 20% enhanced computing power and up to 40% increased performance per watt compared to designs based on the 2nd generation Intel Core processors. Improved Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) floating point instruction set for signal processing and SSE instruction sets provide developers the tools to use the increased floating point performance for high performance embedded computing applications in markets such as military, avionics and medical. Further enhancements include integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000. Kontron, www.kontron.com/3rd-gen-intel-core Differential amplifier  LTC6362 is a low-power fully differential amplifier that can drive high precision 16- and 18-bit SAR ADCs at only 1mA supply current. With 200 μV maximum input offset voltage and 3.9nV/√Hz input-referred noise, you can use it in precision industrial and data acquisition applications. The LTC6362 has an output common-mode pin with a 0.5V to 4.5V range, and 18-bit settling time of 550 nsec with an 8 Vp-p output step, suiting it for driving ADCs such as the LTC2379-18 in multiplexed input and control loop applications. This 18-bit SAR ADC features digital gain compression, which sets its full scale input range to 10% to 90% of the reference voltage. Together with the rail-to-rail output stage of the LTC6362, this feature eliminates the need for a negative supply rail, simplifying the circuit and minimising power consumption. The LTC6362 can convert single-ended DC-coupled, ground-referenced signals to differential, or DC level shift differential input signals. The low input bias current, low offset voltage and rail-to-rail inputs of the LTC6362 also enable its use in a high-impedance configuration to interface directly to sensors early in the signal chain. It uses 1 mA from a 2.8 – 5.25V supply and costs from $1.59 (1,000). Linear Technologies, www.linear.com/product/LTC6362 DACs in tiny packs  Analog Devices’ AD568xR nanoDAC+ converter series of quad D/A converters in 16, 14 or 12 bits of resolution come in 16-lead surface-mount LFCSP or leaded TSSOP packages, and claims the best-available DC performance (INL, offset error and gain error) with a choice of on-chip or external reference and SPI or I²C control interface. Applications include PLC I/O cards, digital oscilloscopes, signal generators and optical modules that require low power, rail-to-rail, single-supply D/A converters. Features include high relative accuracy (±2LSB max at 16-bits) for open-loop applications; on-chip 2.5-V, 2-ppm/°C integrated reference with low drift to save board space and remove the need for calibration over temperature; 3mm x 3mm, chip-scale packages; and a 4-kV HBM ESD rating for increased robustness.  Analog Devices , www.analog.com/en/digital-to-analogconverters/da-converters/ad5686R/products/product.html 58 EDN EUROPE | JUNE 2012 www.edn-europe.com http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/FD/FDMC8010 http://www.kontron.com/3rd-gen-intel-core http://www.linear.com/product/LTC6362 http://www.analog.com/en/digital-to-analogconverters/da-converters/ad5686R/products/product.html http://www.edn-europe.com
