Respect. Integrity. Growth. Hope. Trust. There comes a time
in the life cycle of any organization for reflection. At Samaritan,
we recently took the time to consider our values. What makes
Samaritan Center? Surely, it is the people. Our staff, our friends,
our clients, our loyal donors. But it is also the way we do what
we do. Is it possible to distill the essence of who we are and what
we care about down to a few simple words and phrases? Yes! It
is possible! In 2022 our Management Team set to the task and
enlisted feedback from our staff, board, friends, and stakeholders.
What do we value and why? There is a serious aspect to undertaking this endeavor.
Once we write these down and spread the word, we are also accountable! The first
task at hand is to p ractice these amongst us, as a staff team, in the day-to-day life of the
Center. If we can practice these values ourselves in the mundane, the unexpected, and
the stressful moments, perhaps we can bring these values into our work. I'm thankful
that one of our values is growth. The work remains a journey and we pursue growth
rather than perfection in a collaborative spirit. Will we, will I, always hit the mark?
Since perfection remains elusive, we seek, in humility, to grow together. Thank you
for joining us on the journey! We hope to do right by each other and by you, our
trusted friends, clients and customers. Here's to believing that 2023 will present plenty
of opportunities to practice these values!
