Why?
How such a small word and a lone punctuation mark frames our
Why do we do what we do, believe what we believe, feel what
we feel? Why do we get up in the morning, go to sleep, wake up,
and do it all over again!
At Samaritan Center, we try to keep this answer simple. We
come to work every day to make mental health services available and accessible.
2024 has been a time of growth and transformation for Samaritan Center and our
mission. By expanding to a satellite location in Lancaster City, increasing our list
of accepted insurances, and cultivating unique partnerships, Samaritan's counseling
services are more accessible than ever. In fact, by expanding our number of clinicians
that accept Medicare, becoming in-network with Pennsylvania Medicaid, and opening
a downtown location, Samaritan is uniquely accessible amongst mental health
providers in our region.
The support of our donors allows us to go even further, finding creative ways to
make mental health services more available for underserved populations. Right now,
we are in the process of doing just this with a pilot project to impact older adult mental
health on-site where people live. I'll look forward to sharing more details about this
initiative soon.
And we aren't stopping there! With your help, we are creating a robust and
impactful training program. When we think about problems with mental health
care access, we cannot deny that a fundamental aspect is the shortage of licensed
professionals. Samaritan is committed to being part of the solution by creating
opportunities for trainees to accrue required experiences to complete their degree and
post-degree requirements. By creating opportunities for clinical experience, we are also
impacting underserved individuals with life enhancing services.
We cannot do any of this without you, our committed and faithful friends,
supporters, and donors. Thank you for partnering with us! We are excited by the
growth and transformation at Samaritan and we look forward to sharing this journey
with you in 2025 and beyond!
