Is the Workforce Ready for Gen Z?
There's a new generation in town and they're ready to
disrupt the workplace. According to a survey of 3,890
job seekers by recruitment media company Nexxt, Gen
Z is optimistic about the state of the job market and
their impact on the world of work. Seventy-one percent
say that they will influence the workplace in a positive
way, and 42 percent are confident in their ability to
find a promising job-up from only 25 percent of baby
boomers and 30 percent of Gen Xers.
But do other generations share this optimism?
It would appear not, as only 40 percent
of baby boomers think Gen Z will
have a negative effect on the
workforce.
The new generation is also
entering a difficult job
market, with 63 percent
of survey respondents
reporting that while
there will be more job
opportunities, it will be
harder to find a job in 2018.
Furthermore, 89 percent of
job seekers predict an increase
in competition for top jobs this
year.
The New World of Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are a hot topic in HR today, but
companies are still struggling to meet diversity hiring
targets. That is why Allegis Group recently released its
comprehensive report, Talent, Business, and Competition:
A New World of Diversity and Inclusion, which draws
from research across the entire talent acquisition
landscape to:
* explore core diversity issues;
* deliver key insights on creating an inclusive employee
experience; and
* provide best practices for implementing a talent
acquisition process that promotes diversity.
According to the report, diversity in the workplace has
numerous business benefits. Ethnically diverse businesses
are 35 percent more likely to financially outperform their
peers, and organizations with mature diversity programs
deliver 2.3 times higher cash flow than their less diverse
competitors.
Adapting to Remote Workers
According to Upwork's second annual Future Workforce
Report, which explores hiring behaviors of over 1,000
U.S. managers, remote work is likely to become the new
normal. In the next 10 years, hiring managers
expect that 38 percent of their full-time
employees will work remotely, and 55
percent agree that remote work has
become far more commonplace in
the past three years.
In addition, due to hiring
challenges and talent
shortages, 53 percent of
hiring managers say that
companies are embracing
more contingent workers
compared to three years ago.
In fact, 59 percent of hiring
managers report utilizing flexible
talent today-up 24 percent from
2017.
But workforce practices may not necessarily be
keeping up with these trends. While 64 percent of hiring
managers say that their company has the resources
to support a remote workforce, 57 percent lack a
clear remote work policy. However, this is changing as
companies adopt more agile, flexible talent strategies.
Yoh Acquires Maxsys Solutions, LLC
Yoh, a leading global talent and outsourcing company,
recently announced its acquisition of Maxsys Solutions,
LLC, a Texas-based IT recruitment firm. The acquisition
also includes finance and accounting brand Maxsys
Financial Solutions, LLC. Thanks to the acquisition, Yoh
is able to expand its specialty IT staffing capabilities
and better address the market demand for flexible, ondemand
recruiting for skilled professionals.
