Executives Rank HR a Top Strategic Priority
New research from HR Certification Institute (HRCI)
and Dow Jones Customer Intelligence found that the
vast majority of company executives consider talent
management a key business priority.
The Change Agents study surveyed 300 C-suite executives
to determine how the HR function is viewed across an
organization's leadership. Results showed that business
leaders rank " talent strategy and employee engagement "
fourth as a top business concern, and eight out of 10
executives consider their HR team to be a strategic partner
that helps drive talent strategies across the organization.

hiring and retention directly affect their bottom line, only
59 percent feel that their companies are leaders in talent

As these results demonstrate, finding the right talent is
among the toughest challenges facing businesses today,
and executives are increasingly redefining the strategic
role of HR as a way to drive better business performance
and innovation.
Seven Trends Driving U.S. Job Creation
The world is becoming more connected with every passing
year, with rapid advancements in technology driving
profound changes in the way that people want to live
and work. These changes have had an intense impact on
the labor market, influencing the growth of jobs across
various industries.
A new study conducted by Emsi, CareerBuilder's labor
market analysis arm, reports that the following seven
major trends have significantly influenced job creation
over the past seven years:
1. Rapid technological innovation. The accelerated
development of technology like AI, robotics, and machine
learning has contributed to significant growth in tech and
software development.
2. Rise of on-demand culture. Consumers have become
accustomed to getting information and deliverables
instantly, leading to growth in web development and

3. Lifestyle changes. Greater emphasis on healthy living
and long-term planning has revitalized industries like
fitness, personal finance, and education.
4. Rise of the gig economy. Freelancing is on the rise and
opportunities in jobs like writing, graphic design, and taxi
driving are on the rise.
5. Globalization. As the world gets smaller and companies
expand beyond their own borders, workers in fields like
customer service, translation, and market research are
becoming more essential.
6. New medical advancements. Medical discoveries are
increasing lifespans and driving the need for nurses, home
aids, and other medical professionals.
7. Focus on infrastructure. There is a growing movement
to rebuild and repair homes and infrastructure, leading
to growth in construction, plumbing, and other labor
industries.
