Organisations need to look beyond technology in order to deliver a
top recruitment process.

Today's best practices for attracting candidates aren't
necessarily about using technology-they're about
creating experiences, says Alfi e Nunez, managing director
for business development and client solutions at Allegis
Global Solutions.
" Using technology just for productivity gains isn't a best
practice anymore. It's almost standard practice now, "
Nunez explains. " If you're not doing even that, you're in
real trouble. "
Instead, companies are adopting a design thinking
approach. Design thinking is a solution-based approach
to creating products that involves defi ning a problem
and then devising a product solution. If the problem is
attracting candidates and keeping their interest, the
solution would be to create an experience that engages
them as human beings, Nunez says.
That's important because employers need to compete for
strong candidates. " As a highly skilled, highly marketable,

highly desirable candidate, you're going to get offered
potentially lots and lots of jobs, and the way that you're
going to decide between one job offer or another could
be money, it could be opportunity, it could be career
progression, or it could be culture, " he says.
Money is " very transactional " and anyone can up the
ante and offer more money, says Nunez. But the other
components are about the future and aren't actually
available yet. " Career opportunity is not what you've got
now, " he explains. " It could happen at some point in the
future. It's a theory, it's a promise. It's the same thing
when you consider career progression and even culture. "
" The one thing you can demonstrate to a candidate now
when you're talking through these interactions with
them is the way that it feels to deal with the organisation
through that recruitment process. That's the only here
and now that any candidate can actually feel about the
promises that you're giving them, " Nunez says.
