Korn Ferry Survey Reveals Insights About Job Seekers
A new survey by Korn Ferry of 4,900 professionals provides
key insights for HR leaders looking to understand the
motivations and candidate experience of job seekers.
Results highlight the individuality, authenticity, and
connectivity of professionals in today's workforce.
According to survey results, the top reason that
professionals will seek a new job in 2018 is boredom and
the desire for a new challenge (33 percent), followed
closely by issues of culture fit (24 percent). In comparison,
only 19 percent of survey respondents indicated that a
higher salary would motivate their job search in the coming
year.
The survey also demonstrates the importance of
networking to today's job seekers; almost half (44 percent)
of surveyed professionals view networking as a key first
step to an effective job search, and 89 percent believe that
networking is important in all stages of a person's career.
In addition, while 93 percent of candidates strive to be
authentic in job interviews, many often feel misunderstood
by hiring managers. Almost half (46 percent) of survey
respondents reported that they were turned down for
a job because the interviewer did not understand their
qualifications.
Top Employer Brands in the Fortune 500
WilsonHCG's new 2018 Fortune 500 Top 100 Employment
Brands report examines employer branding efforts across
Fortune 500 companies to determine the key elements of a
successful branding strategy.
Based on six key employment branding categories, the topranking
Fortune 500 companies are:
1. Johnson & Johnson
2. Intel
3. IMB, Proctor & Gamble, and Lockheed Martin
6. General Motors, J.P. Morgan Chase, Dow, Cummins, and
ADP
All of these companies have operationalized their
employment brand strategy in order to drive bottom-line
business results. By being transparent and tailoring their
branding to the priorities of today's talent, they are able to

remain competitive in an intensely demanding job market.
In particular, branding efforts of the top-ranked companies
feature:
* Leadership that acts as brand ambassadors;
* A defined branding strategy that is communicated across
the company's digital presence;
* Timely, relevant content with credible insights from
credible sources;
* Utilization of new recruitment, marketing, automation,
and talent management technologies;
* Cross-departmental collaboration;
* Robust learning and development opportunities for
employees;
* Focus on the entire employment experience; and
* Awareness of the talent pipeline.
New Study Shines Light on Employee Attitudes Toward Job
Searching
In a survey of 4,506 full-time employees, CareerBuilder
determined that workers categorize finding a job as highly
stressful-even more so than a blind date (43 percent),
waiting for results from the doctor (20 percent), and buying
a house (19 percent).
Additionally, while job seekers should look for
opportunities that allow them to grow professionally,
this is not always possible. In fact, 57 percent of survey
respondents reported that they consider their current
employment as a job rather than a career, and 28 percent
feel they aren't even close to finding their professional
calling.
Other survey results include:
* Two in five workers are planning to change jobs in 2018.
* Women are more likely to think that job searching is
highly stressful (72 percent) than men (67 percent).
