SMARC carrier board
Data Modul (Munich, Germany)
is expanding its carrier board
portfolio in the embedded sector,
bringing a universally applicable
carrier board onto the
market in the form of the eDMCB-SM-IPCS.
The new board is
compatible with Intel's latest
Atom x6000E, Celeron and
Pentium ( " Elkhart Lake " ) processor platforms, as well as
with future x86 generations and ARM platforms. In addition,
the embedded motherboard offers a high degree of scalability
and flexibility suitable for a wide range of applications
owing to its SMARC standards. The eDM-CB-SM-IPCS appears
in the thin mini-ITX format and as a modular platform
offers a starting point for customer-specific designs.
According to Data Modul, it is easy to add or remove features,
which can reduce the time to market and decrease the
cost of the customer application.

Inertial measurement units
KVH Industries, Inc.'s (Middletown,
R.I.) P-1750 IMU and P-1725 IMU
complement previously released
P-1775 IMU and create a full line of
inertial measurement units (IMUs)
that feature high-performance accelerometers
and the company's
patented photonic integrated chip
(PIC) technology. Designed to meet the needs of autonomous
technology applications, the P-series IMUs are offered
in the same compact IMU housing design and feature more
dynamic and accurate sensor performance. These features
deliver improved navigation capability and more environmental
robustness in vibration and shock capability for more
challenging applications. The P-1750 IMU is a versatile
high-performance IMU featuring a choice of 10 g or 30 g accelerometers
for autonomous and manned platforms while
the P-1725 IMU is a compact, commercial IMU featuring PIC
technology and 10 g accelerometers.

Miniaturized AEC-Q200-compliant
inductors
The LQW21FT_0H series from
Murata (Smyrna, Ga.) are miniaturized
inductors with broadband
impedance for in-vehicle
power-over-coax (PoC) circuit
of SerDes-based interfacing.
The product line is
AEC-Q200 compliant and delivers
a combination of broadband impedance and high-current
performance. They are available in a compact 0805-in
(2045-mm) case size with 2 mm x 1.2 mm x 1.6 mm (0.079 in
x 0.047 in x 0.063 in) dimensions. The LQW21FT_0H series is
suitable for PoC functions. In addition to elevated broadband
impedance levels, they have inductance values from 0.47 µH
to 2 µH, which can be specified, with respective current ratings
of 1 A and 0.45 A. Heightened operating temperatures
make them well-suited for automotive applications up to
125°C (257°F).

Smart display controllers
Socionext Inc. (Langen, Germany)
has licensed APIX3 technology from
Inova Semiconductors (Munich,
Germany) for its next generation of
smart display controllers. APIX
(Automotive Pixel Link) is a high performance
12 Gbps SerDes (Serializer/
Deserializer) technology for high resolution
automotive video applications. The fourth generation of
smart display controllers has been developed with the designation
SC172x. The extended features of the fourth generation
include a repeater function where several graphic controllers
can be cascaded. This enables new architectures such as panoramic
displays in the dashboard where there is a trend toward
ever-larger or multi-display applications. Moreover, new functionalities
such as local dimming and warping-on-the-fly will be
implemented to support more demanding requirements and to
achieve system integration.
