Special recognitions for aerospace achievements
As a new year of SAE digital experiences is
well under way, two marquee events have
recently recognized a group of talented
engineering industry professionals.
Government/Industry Digital Summit
This annual SAE conference brings together
government agency representatives and
automotive industry professionals to
discuss the changing regulations for safety,
emissions control, and energy conservation.
It was the platform to recognize the
recipients of two SAE awards.
Barbara Wendling, Senior Researcher at
QS-2, was awarded the SAE/InterRegs
Standards and Regulations Award, as she
truly exemplifies the spirit of this award by
continually providing significant
contributions to standards, regulations, and
conformity assessment systems for
improved safety and reducing emissions for
passenger vehicles. Established in 2000,
this award recognizes a practicing engineer
who has provided significant contributions
to standards, regulations or conformity
assessment systems for improved safety or
reduced emissions in a ground vehicle
mobility product.
Four distinguished members of academia
authored the SAE technical paper, " A
Personalized Lane-Changing Model for
Advanced Driver Assistance System Based
on Deep Learning and Spatial-Temporal
Modeling, " which earned them the Ralph H.
Isbrandt Automotive Safety Engineering
UPDATE

Established in 1927, this award annually
recognizes the author(s) of the best paper(s)
relating to the invention, development, design,
construction, or operation of an aircraft and/or
spacecraft presented at a meeting of the Society
or any of its sections.

Award. This paper was written by Lecturer
Jun Gao and Professor Jiangang Yi, of
Jianghan University, Professor, Yi Lu
Murphey of the University of MichiganDearborn and Professor Honghui Zhu, of
Wuhan University of Technology.
AeroTech Digital Summit
Not long after the G/I meetings, the
brightest minds in the aerospace industry
gathered together to expedite strategies
and build relationships that propel the
industry forward during the AeroTech
Digital Summit. This conference was the
ideal setting to honor a number of industry
professionals and authors.
