MEMBER NEWS
my university. On a personal
level, I made many friends
through SAE and I look forward
to the next in-person SAE event!
In what ways have you been
involved with SAE?
Due to my research being
centered around vehicles, it only
made sense to me to become an
SAE member early in my career. I
have been a member of SAE for
24 years. Since 2003, I have been
actively involved in the Chassis
and Suspension Committee
(renamed Chassis Design and
Vehicle Dynamics Committee
after merging with the Braking
and Steering committee in 2014),
helping organize its annual
conference at COMVEC and
reviewing technical papers. I
served as the committee's vice
chair from 2005 to 2014 and as
its chair from 2014 to 2015. I was
a member of the SAE
Engineering Meetings Board in
2016-2017 and the SAE
Publications Board in 2017.
Through the years, I have also
been a member of and
participated in the events of the
SAE Ground Vehicle Reliability
Committee, Women Engineers
Committee, and Vehicle
Dynamics Standards Committee.
UPDATE
With 2018 SAE President Mircea Gradu at the award ceremony when she was
recognized as a new SAE Fellow.
I served as mentor for SAE members on several
occasions. I have been a member of the SAE Fellows
Committee since 2018 and am currently serving as its
chair. I became an editor-in-chief of the SAE
International Journal of Commercial Vehicles in 2010,
vice chair of the SAE Journals Editors Committee in
2016, and a member of the Committee on
Publications Ethics in 2019. In 2020, I co-edited an
SAE book.
Has any single SAE Member been particularly helpful
or inspirational to you?
I met Dr. Rodica Baranescu, the first women to be SAE
President (in 2000) at one of the SAE World
