SAE Bylaws change approved
At the 14 September 2021 Special meeting
of the SAE International Membership, the
members present voted unanimously to
approve the proposed Membership
Resolution to the SAE Bylaws.
The recommended changes were
presented by Jeff Hemphill, 2021 SAE
President, who also chaired the special
meeting.
Chair Hemphill reviewed the Board of
Directors recommended Bylaws Member
Resolution that identified the current Bylaws
prohibition on past presidents being eligible
for a 2nd term, the Nominating Committee
(NC) requested the Board's support to
approach the SAE Membership to
recommend that the Bylaws provision (found
in Section 5.6, ¶2) be held in abeyance solely
for the election of the 2023 President.
That means that the Bylaws provision
would not be eliminated from the Bylaws; it
would be applicable for future presidential
elections after the 2023 presidential election.
The proposed Membership Resolution and
Bylaws were available for the membership.
Chair Hemphill expressed his appreciation
to the membership for their participation
and concluded the meeting.
The Special Membership meeting took
place during 2021 COMVEC, at the Hyatt
Regency O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont, IL
(USA). n
Tool developed for sharing mobility
data between organizations
The Mobility Data Collaborative (MDC), a
multi-sector forum of leading mobility
partners, in collaboration with the Future of
Privacy Forum (FPF), today released a set
of resources to support transparent and
accountable decision making about how
and when to share mobility data between
organizations. The collective effort provides
an actionable, useful tool allowing
organizations to adequately assess privacy
risks in their information sharing processes.
" Today, public and private organizations
use mobility data to recognize patterns and
needs. As data is collected, collated,

aggregated and analyzed, it is important to
protect the privacy of individuals, " said
Pooja Chaudhari, head of new mobility at
SAE International and Director of the MDC.
" Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) have
proven successful to allow organizations to
adequately assess privacy risks in their
information sharing processes. While there
are many PIA templates available, we've
created a transportation-tailored Mobility
Data Sharing Assessment tool and
supporting resources. "
The Mobility Data Sharing Assessment
(MDSA) is a practical and customizable
