Chip resistors
TT Electronics (Woking, United
Kingdom) announced the debut of its
HPDC series high power density chip
resistors. This design is purportedly optimized
for power management, actuator
drive and heating applications,
which benefit from the enhanced heat
transfer from element to terminal. The
company claims that use of such highpower-density
components saves PCB
area and boosts reliability by restricting
the temperature rise in the component
hotspot. The HPDC series chip resistors
use an aluminum nitride (AlN) ceramic
substrate that has about six times the
thermal conductivity of alumina, which
enables them to offer a high-power
density solution with ratings of 2.4W in
1206 and 3.5W in 2512 footprints.

Camera systems
Continental (Allentown, Pennsylvania)
has expanded its line of vehicle camera
systems. Continental's new Platform AHD
(Analog High Definition) camera systems
feature 2-megapixel cameras with high
image clarity and infrared lights for enhanced
night vision. The camera line includes
rear view and front and side view
cameras. The displays work with both
CVBS and AHD camera inputs. Video can
be stored in a DVR for future driver analysis
and training. They are also offered
with 7- or 10.1-in. (17.8-25.6 cm) AHD displays
and the capability to integrate
seamlessly with Continental ultrasonic
Digital beam steering
LeddarTech (Quebec City, Canada)
announced the release of LeddarSteer,
a digital beam-steering solution designed
for lidar smart sensor developers.
Digital beam steering refers to
changing the direction of laser pulses
in a lidar. LeddarTech states that using
a stack of
alternating
liquid crystal
cells and
polarization
gratings
enables it to
steer light
at different
angles at a
specific
wavelength to augment a lidar field of
view while maximizing its performance,
allowing digital beam steering
to be achieved. According to company
representatives, LeddarSteer is the
only digital beam steering system designed
for mass production with the
flexibility, reliability, cost, size and performance
required by the most demanding
3D sensing applications and
supported by standard automotive
manufacturing process.

Microcontrollers
Infineon Technologies (Munich,
Germany) announced the expansion of
its AURIX microcontroller family and
availability of the first samples of the
company's new AURIX TC4x family of
28 nm microcontrollers (MCUs) for
ADAS, automotive E/E architectures
and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
The new family features scalable
performance enhancements from the

AURIX accelerator
suite.
This includes
the new parallel
processing
unit (PPU), a
SIMD vector
digital signal processor (DSP) that addresses
the demands of various AI topologies.
Additionally, new software
over-the-air (OTA) features help fulfill
OEM demands for fast and secure vehicle-to-cloud
connection. It also supports
high-speed communication interfaces
like 5 Gbit Ethernet and PCI
Express along with new interfaces such
as CAN-XL and 10BASE T1S Ethernet.

Evaluation board
ROHM Semiconductor (Kyoto, Japan)
announced the availability of a new evaluation
board, the REFLVBMS001EVK-001,
which facilitates the verification
of the operation of ultra-efficient
battery management solutions. The
company claims that this board provides
an ultra-high efficiency battery management
solution for thin, compact IoT devices
by combining these technologies.
It is equipped with a power supply IC
(buck DC/DC converter IC) and reset IC
(voltage detector IC) utilizing original
Nano Energy ultra-low current consumption
technology. It also features a battery
charger IC that supports low-voltage
rechargeable batteries, along with the
NGK Insulators' thin, large capacity
EnerCera li-ion rechargeable battery. The
ultra-low current consumption of the
power supply IC (quiescent current
180nA) minimizes loss.
