Hydraulic oil
BioBlend (Elk Grove Village, Illinois)
launched a synthetic fire-resistant hydraulic
oil product line. Along with
BioBlend's original BioFlo HFDU product,
which is semi-synthetic, this product
provides a safer alternative to mineral
oil and will not sacrifice performance.
Both products are environmentally
responsible and Factory Mutual
approved.
Both oils
are compatible
with
existing
equipment,
minimally
toxic, and
formulated
with zinc
free, ashless antiwear additive technologies.
They are readily biodegradable
(≥60% OECD 301A-F/ASTM D7373
testing) within 28 days and meet
Factory Mutual (FM) Standard 6930
HFDU USDA BioPreferred Program
Classified as Environmentally
Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) as per
the EPA's 2013 U.S. Vessel General
Permit (VGP) ISO Grade.

Solenoids
ATAM (Monza, Italy), and ITALMAGNETI
(Milan, Italy) are collaborating to produce
a new range of solenoids for hydraulics
applications. The solenoid consists
of an integrated ATAM coil and
ITALMAGNETI linear actuator. The component
can facilitate movements such
as the arm on a bulldozer or the rotation
of a concrete mixer by regulating
the flow of oil and directing it where
and when it is necessary, precisely
maintaining the required pressure and
flow rate. This family of solenoids has
been developed principally for applications
dedicated to earthmoving. These
high-performance products can operate
at pressures up to 450 bar (6500 psi)
and are tested for 10 million cycles.

Braided hose couplings
Kurt Hydraulics (Minneapolis,
Minnesota) expanded its braided hose
coupling line to encompass 743 styles
and sizes. These compression-style hydraulic
hose fittings feature RoHScompliant
plating that makes them ideal
for a variety of industry applications
and deliver superior performance, durability
and quality. End configurations
include SAE, metric, and other styles
with diameters
ranging
from
¼-inch I.D.
(6.35 mm)
to 1-¼-inch
(31.75 mm)
I.D. Kurt
states that
these hose
couplings
are compatible with a wide variety of
braided hydraulic hoses including Kurt
Tuff Hose, SAE 100 R1, SAE 100 R2, SAE
100 R16, SAE 100 R17, thermoplastic
hoses (SAE 100 R7 and SAE 100 R8). All
Kurt Hydraulics SAE fittings are made in
the USA and available through a network

Electromechanical
actuator
Danfoss Power Solutions (Hamburg,
Germany) and RISE Robotics
(Somerville, Massachusetts) announced
a collaboration agreement to
jointly validate and test an electromechanical
actuator. The RISE Cylinder
(US Patent 11255416, patent pending:
WO2019/014259) is a fluid-free, electro48

mechanical alternative to hydraulic cylinders
for heavy equipment and machinery.
It helps address the batteryelectrification
challenges inherent in
hydraulic systems by delivering hydraulic-like
forces at " unprecedented " efficiency,
precision, speed and weight.

Pneumatic actuator
Festo (Esslingen, Germany) announced
the release of a DSNB pneumatic actuator
that conforms to National Fluid
Power Association (NFPA) standardized
mounting options. The company states
that this actuator is intended for machine
conversion applications such as
sorting, stacking, insertion, loading, lifting,
dispensing, clamping and gates.
The actuator is available in seven bore
sizes, 11 variations and 15 different NFPA
compliant mounting configurations.
Features include a polyurethane rodwiper
seal, hard anodized aluminum
cylinder and synthetic grease, all of
which help to provide a high level of
performance. Long service life is assured
through use of anodized aluminum
end caps as well as a high-strength
steel piston rod with chrome plating,
and composite rod bushing and PTFE
wear band.
