AC LEVEL 2 CHARGING - FUTURE SWITCHING DEMANDS
Currently SAE J1772 dictates a max current of 80A and 240V (19.2kW)
for Level 2 AC charging. I have seen systems that are upwards of 24kW
with current of 100A. Even for the current 80A what is the limiting
factor, utility supply, switching relay/contactor, OBC, etc? If their were a
PCB mounted relay capable of switching >24kW what would those
specifications look like, i.e. load characteristics, number of poles,
number of cycles, etc.? - Add your voice here
ELECTRIC VEHICLE RANGE
The question posed is: " When will EVs have 500 mile to 600 mile range
and be able to be 100% recharged in 5 minutes or less?? Until this can
be achieved, EVs will not be viable alternatives to ICE. " As Update
readers can guess, this question/comment a great deal of pushback,
including the following rebuttal: " Perhaps they are not viable for you, at
least on the days when you are making this trip. How often though do
you drive more than 250 miles in a single day? " - Add your voice here.
