The G-32 Committee is unique in its holistic
approach based on systems engineering principles,
allowing organizations to leverage a range of existing
standards they are already using rather than " reinventing
the wheel. " However, pulling together many
of the existing disciplines was no simple task - the
G-32 Committee is comprised of over 300 members,
including representation from aerospace, automotive,
defense, electronics, finance, healthcare, and
information technology industries, as well as
government and academic experts.
A unique feature of the JA7496 is the inclusion of
" domains of consideration " representing areas to
consider when determining how to mitigate risks.
Some of these domains include data and information
security, access control, physical security, anticounterfeit,
and cyber-supply chain risk
UPDATE
community endeavor, the G-32
Committee received over 350
comments that were addressed
as a group before final approval
of the standard by the
committee. One of the most
striking aspects of the process
was the intellectual evolution
and refinement of the standard
over its many iterations. It has
been a rewarding experience to
collaborate with a group of
volunteers with such a deep and
diverse expertise to craft a
standard that lays an important
and practical foundation for
addressing cyber physical
system security.

becoming a standard and
particularly thrilled about
electric vehicle charging being
the illustrative example for how
to use the standard. I've been
