What is cybersecurity? TECH FOCUS: CybErSECUriTy There is an ever-growing demand for cybersecurity engineers. For the mobility industry, there are now several educational programs that have been created to increase the field's professional workforce and reduce the cybersecurity risk to ground vehicles. Education mobility industry professionals will improve our defenses to counteract cybersecurity threats from actors in multi-domain contested environments. You can help by engaging and supporting workforce cybersecurity education initiatives such as: The CyberAuto Challenge or similar events at your local high school or at the college level. Donating funds or equipment to these events a great way for students to learn from mobility industry cybersecurity professionals while actually doing hands-on hacking of vehicles. Much the same applies to the CyberTruck Challenge - Connecting next generation talent with the heavy duty industry to keep vehicles secure. University of Detroit Mercy has established the Metro-Detroit Regional Vehicle Cybersecurity Institute, which builds on existing relationships with automotive industry and government partners to provide students with valuable real-world experience.. More information on the Vehicle Cyber Engineering program at UD-Mercy can be found here. SAE Professional Development offers cybersecurity seminars were attendees learn about vehicle hacking UPDATE techniques in order to ensure that systems will be reasonably safe under expected real-world conditions, including those that may arise due to potential vehicle cybersecurity vulnerabilities (more information can be found here: Introduction to Car Hacking with CANbus (sae.org). Cybersecurity is a team project Cybersecurity-related threats will continue to be a global risk for all businesses - and they will not be going away. The transportation industry - through each company's actions and through industry groups like SAE International, government organizations like CISA, and university partners - must remain vigilant and train our workforce to help the collective reduce the impact of this ongoing threat. n May 2022 7 DG Technologieshttps://www.sae.org/learn/content/c1857/ https://www.sae.org/learn/content/c1857/ https://www.sae.org/learn/content/c1857/ https://www.sae.org/attend/cyberauto https://www.cybertruckchallenge.org/ https://www.cybertruckchallenge.org/ https://www.cybertruckchallenge.org/ https://eng-sci.udmercy.edu/academics/engineering/vehicle-cyber-eng
