2025 Ram 1500 REV offers
class-leading big battery
Ram is targeting a 500-mile driving range for the Ram 1500 REV XR
with 229-kWh battery pack.
Stellantis' Ram brand introduced more details about the 2025
Ram 1500 REV electric pickup at the New York International
Auto Show and one option is an enormous 229-kWh battery
pack with a " targeted " driving range of up to 500 miles (805
km) and a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 lb. (6,350 kg).
That range, which just about doubles the average range of
currently offered electric pickup trucks, can be had in the
Ram 1500 REV XR. The standard model, which will be on sale
first, debuts with a 160-kWh battery and a targeted range of
up to 350 miles (563 km). Both can handle 800-volt DC fast
charging at up to 350 kWh, meaning an ability to gain 110
miles (177 km) of range in about 10 minutes.
Mike Koval Jr., Ram's CEO, said the 1500 REV preproduction
model, last seen as a concept at the Consumer Electronics
Show in January 2023, is focused on what's desired in the
market. " [The truck] pushed past the competition in areas
customers care about most, including range, towing, payload
and charge time, " he said. Ram is targeting a 0-60 mph (0-97
km/h) time of 4.4 seconds, along with a combined 654 hp
(488 kW) and 620 lb-ft (841 Nm) and a 2,700 lb (1,225 kg)
maximum payload.
The new truck has a more sculpted body than the smoothlooking
concept, with a new hood design that maximizes
space in the frunk and a character line that stretches along
the entire bodyside. In what is increasingly a customer expectation,
the truck can handle vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-load
and vehicle-to-grid bidirectional charging.
The lithium-ion battery's power gets to the wheels through
250-kW drive modules at each axle that contain the motor,
gearbox and inverter. In tandem they can provide all-wheel
drive capability. The front-axle's module can be disconnected
at the wheels to allow for rear-wheel drive only, which can
boost efficiency.
